I'd have to say I would rather own the McLaren than the Veyron. It may be faster in a straight line than the F1 but thats all it has on it other than 400 or so horsepower :-D. IMO I'd rather own a car that can go 0-60 or 0-100 in the fastest possible time while also being able to handle well (i.e. lotus elise/exige). Top speed means nothing unless you live near the autobahn because how many times in your life are you going to get to go 254 miles per hour? Not that many.

Thats why I'd rather have a Vector W8, Dauer 962, or CR962, or XJ220, or EB110 SS, or Enzo... yeah, I really really don't like the macca!

I know a few people who have. I have tremendous respect for the V12 in it... but the suspension geometry, I'm told by my friends who have driven the more prevalent version (non LM/ GTR) that it isn't nimble, on the limit driving doesn't work... it understeers then w/out warning will snap oversteer (coming from a long time test driver), and the limits aren't that high for such a light car.

For me, i rather any car..Ferraris, Lambo, Porsh CGT, Zonda, CCX, basically any supercars out there over the Veyron. for me the Veyron, is one of the most ugliest ever made. it's like an oversized Beetle. i know the mount of effort and enginnering that went in the Veyron, but i don't know. i just don't like the look of it 1 bit.

Its definitely not one of the most ugliest made, there are many WAY uglier than it!

Issac, personally the reason I love the F1 is the dream of Gordon Murray and the technology in the car and the way it was built. Remember Murray started on this car in the late 80's so he was far ahead of his time. Everything about the McLaren was innovative, Body, 3 Seater, air foils. Murray said if he could have continued development the two things he would have worked on would have been the Brakes and the Steering.

some people like a car for the way it was built, others for the way it drives, and others for the way it looks... and for me, its a combination of the 3, just as it is for many others. The F1 is ugly to me, I'm told it doesn't drive well, and the fit and finish is sub par for what it is... I haven't seen one, so I can't comment on the fit and finish myself.

I read an article about the F1 (Octane, I think) where he said if he could change anything, it would be adding carbon brakes and HID lights for better lighting. He said he wanted carbon brakes when he was designing the car to reduce weight, but they didn't come in time or something along those lines.

Meh. Different cars for different purposes. This cars purpose is not track driving. Its purpose is to accellerate from 0 - 60 mph quicker than your spit travels from mouth and down your throath. Its purpose is to do 250 mph. Its purpose is to outaccellerate F1 cars. Its purpose is to demonstrate the power of ingeneering. Its purpose is to be a icon like the McLaren F1.

If I cared about weight I'd just get one Ariel Atom and toss it around.

But I don't know if I would pick a Veyron or a Enzo though, that would have been my lifes thoughest desicion making :D

The Veyron is a showcase for Bugatti/Audi/Porsche. That's it. Any car manufacturer large enough could have built a car like this and sold it at a loss like Audi has. They use the thing as a promotional tool for the company. How many times have you seen the Veyron on TV, magazine covers etc?? Its everywhere. One of the best advertising tools ever!

The car is amazing non the less. Its a real technological masterpiece, and I would buy one for that reason, looks are not the only reason one buys a car. I would also buy an XJ220 just because of the engineering that went into that car. How its assembled is outstanding, makes a Ferrari look primitive and ameturish. But it drives like a piece of wood..just awful, I would be cool to buy an XJ220 and take the thing apart just to display the internals of the chassis and have the car mounted on a turn table or something.

The F1..now that is a car. Built by a very small company guided by one mans idea of the ultimate driving machine. Nuff said..

The W8 is one of the most intensively and accurately manufactured 'one-off' cars that has ever been made. The transmission is a 3 speed manual shift automatic designed to withstand 1800 hp... even with the extremely tall gearing, its still one of the fastest cars to 170 mph today, and once in 3rd gear, will keep trucking right onto 242 mph

I think the rear end is unresolved, but the rest of the car is a thing of beauty and extravagant over-the-top styling that a supercar should have.

The Veyron looks like a marshmallow and is just a boring car. I don't care how fast it goes; it doesn't get my blood pumping at all.

Good point. Veyron was built using more advanced tech and manufacturing processes, just like how computers have evolved, difficult to compare as both are great in their own times, i am sure something else would beat the veyron in the next decade. But for now its the best money can buy for combination it provides :)
