I am actually looking into this car, I am wondering what his reserve is. It's been on Ebay several times.

Can someone run a carfax on this car?

Ran Carfax. 5 owner car. The report is clean. During the last 3 years, has had 3 different owners. All five owners in California.

Hey guys, actually wanted this car very badly and looked into it since it's in La Jolla..about 15 min. from my house (read: save $$ on shipping). Talked to the owner and he told me the car was purchased to be used as part of an exotic car rental business that never got off the ground. Also mech. work done was done by "a friend" with a shop. He has the car listed on cars.com for about 80k (cant remember exactly..might be 78 or 79K). He told me this price when I called to inquire about the ebay listing. It MIGHT be a great car but at the end of the day I was just not willing to pay that much for a 95 model year and Habib (don't know his last name) was not willing to budge on his price. I found a 96 gts in FL and paid 62K for it. had 2 PPI's done. One independent, one dealership. Both found the car to be in great shape except for needing new o2 sensors and the 30K svc. Had Tim Stanford in Ft. Lauderdale do the work and still came out wayyy ahead.(great shop by the way..honest man that ONLY works on ferraris). Car arrives in So. Cal next week (can't wait!). I didn't feel comfortable paying that much for a car(the 95) that may or may not have been used as a rental and that had been worked on by shop(s) not specializing in Ferrari's. It has been up and expired at least 4 times that I can count so I guess most people share my view. If you are willing to pay 80 k for a 95 gts...maybe it's the car for you..but there is a 97 gts with less than 10k miles on it for sale on ebay in rhode island for $79....If my budget had been that high, I know which car I would have gotten. Just food for thought. It might be an awesome car. I know I love my 96 (got a chance to spend some time with it in FL before shipment) and love the money I saved even more. Hope this helps someone.

If I am not mistaken, your 1996 GTS that you just bought was on ebay for 2 months. The dealer had bought it at an auction for $54k. Needed a 30k service, no records of valve guides or headers done. Hopefully your PPI 's made sure these issues were addressed. Nice looking car though as I was considering it for awhile. How much did the 30k set you back if I may ask?

I also looked at this car - Habib wants WAY too much money
    for a 5 owner, 30k+ mile 355 gts.

I drove the car in question. It seemed to be down on power and idled rough. On the way back the "Check Engine 1-4" light come on. The body is in beautiful shape. The bottom part of the driver seat's has threads missing. I plan on talking to him about getting the problems fixed. I think the Exhaust Manifolds were replaced with factory ones, so that is not good.

Be careful with any car for sale on Ebay. I traveled (a few months ago) to look at one and only to find a POS. BEWARE!

yep, that's the one...I watched it on ebay go up and down (car I bought in FL) and then when it expired again, talked to him before it relisted. Got Tim Stanford to do the 30K. cost $6500. I know everyone has their favorite mechanic in their local area but I will stand on a mountain top screaming praises for Tim. No, I am not affiliated with him in any way and no I have no vested interest in saying that. My motivation is simple: there are precious few honest, trustworthy, reasonably priced independents out there and I want to make sure that the good ones get credit where credit is due. He's in Ft. Lauderdale and wayyyy less expensive than "The Collection" (someone has to pay for that huge place and the free espresso drinks-lol). Anyway, I actually dropped the car off with him, flew to my VA house and arranged for the transport company to pick up the car from his shop to deliver the car to the So. Cal house. My point is that he had a million opportunities to take advantage of me since I was in VA the entire time the 30K was being done. Exactly the opposite: He called with periodic updates on the work without me having to call first and even recommended against some things I was thinking about doing that would have added to the bill. Anyway, I'm getting way off point here: 30K at tim stanford was $6500 and I wish to hell he would move his shop to so cal so I could continue using him. The car: well, I knew that I was taking a leap of faith without a good paper trail..that's why I got 2 independent PPI's. Turns out that bad recordkeeping seemed to be the worst problem the car had. Car is (by both PPI's account) in great mechanical shape, near new car compression numbers, plenty of clutch, straight body, etc, etc. The worst part about the car was the tacky window tint that is so dark that I literally could not see out of the back even in the glaring Key West sun (drove the car to my FL house before dropping off with Tim <with his mechanical blessing>--c'mon, I HAD to play with it a little before flying back!) and OH had to replace center air vent...the dreaded tacky/melted paint phenomenon. The car is great...not concourse, but I plan on using it as a daily driver and don't care to take the time and money to make it a concourse car. The best part was that it has a tubi exaust. I don't think the dealer knew much about the car. He listed it as a 5 speed and didnt mention the tubi (a definite selling point). I had Tim put hyper flow cats on it while the engine was out. The sound rocked before, can't wait to hear it with the hyperflows. Hope this answers your questions. I don't know what habib and his 95 gts reserve is..but when I talked to him, he seemed pretty adamant about wanting close to 80k for it..it' son cars.com according to him. so you can go see what he's asking for it there. Like I said, sounded too good to be true for me (so close to my CA house) but from what I heard from him, the price and a post I just read from this thread from someone who test drove it...looks like I chose correctly.
