    Hey guys, going through some old pics this morning and thought you guys would want to see this. Met this guy at Amelia Island Concours. Guy was form California and this is one of Steve McQueens old cars. This guy was friends with Chad and helped him during the restoration. I actually think this car was recently sold, Maybe some of you have some more insight.

    BTW and for those of you who have not been to Amelia Island Concours, it is just literaly undescribable. It's 2Nd to Pebble Beach and it's the one event I just cant miss every year.

    Beautiful car... Someone exhibited a D-Type that belonged to him that year as well. I'll second nerd's comments about Amelia also. They do a great job year after year.

    This car is extremely atractive IMO. It will probably be hugely popular (and expensive) in Montery. I think it is being offered at the perfect venue for the car. I understand that pre auction estimates are in the 800-850 on the low side.

    While Lussos are heade to 500K this perfect example will certainly bring more. The real question will be how much is the McQueen connection worth and does two or more people want it. My guess is that, (they will) in light of the previous startling results of McQueen items, and the reported to be absolutely exceptionall sate of this up and coming car, which, by theway isn't so far from a GTO, look for one million dollars plus. It just depends on who wants it. I do but I can't press the bid.

    Any bets?

    I saw the car up close at Cavallino and Amelia Island. It is truly stunning. It's so gorgeous it almost makes your eyes hurt to look at it!

    If we weren't on the front end of a global asset repricing (to the down side) I think the car would easily go over a million. Also, there probably aren't as many McQueen fans in Europe and the UK as in the US, so the currency difference may not be as big a factor in bringing in more bidders as it otherwise might be. A lot of people would rather have a 275GTB4 for that kind of money, even without the celebrity ownership.

    We'll soon see!

    The estimate (which is almost meaningless) is $800K - 1.2M. If non-US bidders get into the fray with their Euros, Rubles, etc..........look out!!

    Steve was the man and his old car looks the part. I don't know what it is worth but I'm telling you it is just a beauty.

    The car is or was owned and restored by fellow Fchatter Mike Regalia. A recent issue of Forza contains a nice article on the car (s/n 4815 if I am not mistaking).

    Italian company BBR has made a limited series of 1:43 handbuilt miniatures of the car. Very nice stuff.
