It should. Because of F430 having no weight (no engine) in front it should go around corners faster. But if the time in both are almost equal that's not less impressive because of the 599 having a front engine and being a GT.

Comparing a GT2 to a stock 430? Not quite apples to apples. Let's see how the 430 Scuderia tracks vs. a GT2.

intouch1 first of all it's clearly a good number but

1- you have to use the same measure so sport auto is more useful since same driver
2- tires are key between the PS2 and "almost street" new MPSC the 997tt had a 3 second difference by WR
so between street tires and real r-comps you can have a much bigger difference.
3- A more track oriented setup ( which is not hard to do) can do miracles, see the time difference between a GT3 and a 997s with only 60 HP difference is 14 seconds! and 13 seconds for 360 and 360 cs with just 25 HP

so comparing out-of-the box soft street oriented cars with more track oriented setup cars like a GT3/2 or a stradale/scuedria can be deceiving !

i think times are interesting to look at but it's the feel and how a car delivers performance is what really matters..you can get a heavily modded 700 HP evo to run
faster times then some of these p-cars and f-cars but would you take that instead?

What till the 430 Scuderia comes out....your comparing the top 911 to the "base" F430.

Well, if I remember correctly, the 599 beat the Enzo around Fiorano, right? So did the 430 beat the Enzo too???

I could be totally wrong, this is going on my memory! :D

    Regardless, they're all wonderful cars, and I'd like a 599, 430Scud, GT2, and CGT, if I could :D :D

As some one who used to race, all I can say is that the difference is so small, none of you would notice the difference. What is important is how it got there. Which is the easiest to drive, which would go faster in the hands of someone without a huge amount of skill. That is the question. Just because one is quicker in the hands of a great driver, doesn't mean it's quicker in the hands of the average fool. I'd want to know which is quicker in the ham handed idiot's hands, because that's more like what we compare, not which is quicker in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, because, none of you do.

I'd say the 430 should be compared to a GT3, and the 430 Scuderia to the GT3 RS. The GT2 doesn't have a Ferrari counterpart. Unless your only criteria for a car are cost and performance. If so, the Z06 should be mentioned (7m 43s, $70k).

To the starter of this thread: Yes, the GT2 is impressively quick, but it has to be. It's a $190k Porsche with a 911 body. That just sounds wrong to me, no matter how fast it is. You're not going to convert anyone here. Life is more than just numbers (cost or lap times). In the end, the Porsche is a Porsche and the Ferrari is a Ferrari.

You obviously don't like Ferraris with a comment like that! So why are you on a FERRARI forum??????? Your only here to start sh**. Am I the only one figuring and calling you out??? with only a few threads, I think your here to ONLY start commotion. Call me out, I don't care! I will continue to check this thread and defend Ferraris. Trust me I got them both and you know it and I know it, there is no comparison. Until you own a Ferrari, You don't know what your talking about. The GT2 is a great car, But so are alot of other cars. No need to come on here and tell us how much better it is than Ferraris. Make friends here that's what this site is all about. There are Porsche site out there. Go there if you want to talk Porsche.

What I meant was that for 99% of those on this chat, it doesn't make any difference, other than braggng rights. The real criteria is whether or not the vehicle is driver friendly. I'm sure that a lot of cars are quicker around xyz race track, however, if that is only done with a professional driver, it makes no difference. The real criteria is which is quicker with the average driver, such as you have on this chat.

I've driven porsches, and while quick, they are a handful when driven close to the margin. Same is true for the 360. Not true for the 430 though. In some of the motorcycle and car magazines they test with a pro, a journalist, and an average driver. The results aren't always the same. I'm suggesting that the real criteria is the result from an average driver.

maybe it's the coffee......go for green tea...much healthier...

hate to disappoint you....had a 360 Modena.....and since I was clear that it's no more Ferrari's for me........nevertheless, I think they are great cars....especially the F430 and the 599. in the end it boils down to personal preference.....

furthermore i really don't think you have anything to defend as nobody is in attack mode.....stating simple facts was never an assault was it ?

    have a great day.......
