Thanks to the retarded Drug War they are todays Robber Barons in that they make all their $$$$$ tax free

it would be a lot smarter to legalize marijuana & tax it, after all its less harmful than tabaco or alcohol

I'm sure the Drug Lords are thrilled about not paying taxes

    me either. please clarify.

the science seems to suggest that we'd be better off if cigarettes were illegal and marijuana was legal.

of course all the "think of the tax windfall!" folks should keep in mind that the price of marijuana is wildly inflated due to the risk associated with it's production, marketing, and distribution. if you take that away, it'll probably be nearly the same price as cigarettes in short order.

    doody.

Cigarettes give people cancer. Alcohol makes people aggressive and sometimes even violent. Marijuana makes people sleepy and hungry.

I've never used it, but the fact that it is illegal is pretty stupid to me when you stack it up against the drugs we have that are legal.

I'm with you 100%. But it will never happen because the alcohol and tobacco industries are huge and too financially strong to let this happen. Weed should be legalized, regulated and taxed.

Where were you in the '30's, or did you forget ? Or did you ever know of a thing called 'prohibition' ??

Didn't work then, would NEVER work now, besides, if they banned tobacco and alcohol, do you have any clue as to how much of our tax base the government would lose ? Where would they make it up ? By raising all other taxes a nice percentage.

Ban alcohol, people will make their own, still drive, kill people, be charged with MVH, be sentenced to 15-20 years, and be out in 3. Or less.

that pretty much sums it up. as for me, i don't do pot, or any other illicit drug, but a lot of my friends do it, some regularly, some every once in a while. personally, i don't like it when it happens, but let me put it this way. i've gotten a lot of free meals at mcdonalds for sober driving, :D. i do drink though, and i can tell you that you can kiss my home town goodbye. with the revenue a-b brings into st. louis and other cities, there are a ton of government programs that are funded solely from this.

    Same with me...

YET I think most of us, even if we dont use it, are aware alcohol is far more dangerous... its quite the backwards @ss system we have. Pot should be legalized and we should enjoy the tax benefits from it.

I think we're still waiting for your well thought out explanation of how making pot legal is akin to making bank robbery legal...

Marijuana increases the probability of late onset schizophrenia by 40%, Its not really that harmless. Drug dealers could break even if one out of every eleven shipment made don't get seized. Currently they are making nine out of every eleven. That comes straight from a friend in the state department. Premium hydroponic marijuana which is grown all over the place in California sells for extremely high prices in most parts of the US. Assuming you don't get caught the business is extremely lucrative.
