I've been thinking that my speedometer (2001 360, had it for about 6 weeks) has been reading high, so I went out with a GPS and confirmed it (speedometer 80, GPS 72. Speedometer 70, GPS 63-64. Speedometer 60, GPS 55). I took into the shop and was told that all the sensors checked out fine, that they didn't know what it was/to do.

I realize there will be some 'slippage' but it's really annoying having to do the math in my head to compensate and I don't want to put a post-it with numbers on the visor.

Anybody else have a problem with their speedometer and/or a guess as to what is going on?

I think that they are allowed to be about 10% fast by law. I think I read that the Miata took advantage of this by pushing it to the limit so zero to sixty for the driver is realy zero to 54 - makes the car seem peppier.

Or are you talking about the odo? Than even the pronographic low milage of the typical used 360 is in reality even lower. Just freeze it in a block of plastic, why don;t you?

I assume (right?) the odometer would be off by the same percentage. every mile I really put on costs me 1.09 of a mile on the odometer.

You should try believing an old Boxer speedo - Apparently, little old ladies in Camrys tootle along at about 85-90 around here, along with all of the minivans, wheezing ricers, and Dodge Duallies towing 40' horsey trailers......
    :D :D :D :D :D :D

10% would be beyond conservative, more like 25% in my case.
