    WHAT!! that's 390.000 euro's for a base 430?!?!?!?!
    In the Netherlands, a new f430 without any options will set you back for around 210.000

    The first registration tax in HK payable to the government is effectively 100% of the price of the car. An average spec 599 is about USD570,000 at list price. There is not a premium here but there is a long wait. Several used cars have traded at list price or lightly below

    In Singapore, the situation is similar to Australia. A new F430 couple costs about US$535,000.

    Reasons are primarily due to high import duties, and a 1 dealer / 1 branch monopoly. We are an island city and so the government is focused on ensuring there are strong disincentives to buying cars for fear of overcrowding. In addition to instilling high import duties, other disincentives include requiring you purchase certificates that give you the right to use a vehicle, which today is valued at US$12,000 (but has gone as high as US$60,000) and bi-annual road tax charges which can run up to US$5,000. All-in an F430 coupe today is US$550,000+. Spiders even more. The purchase price of a Lambo LP640 is roughly US$800,000.

    Second-hand cars can theoretically be purchased through a parallel importer, but nobody does it for high-end cars given that the dealer (of which there is only 1 remember) will effectively "black list" you when it comes to servicing, launches, get-togethers, etc. so you take a big risk with a temperamental car like a Ferrari.

    The one area we're even worse of than Australia is that most of the cars within 5 - 10 years of their life get exported to countries where these cars are worth more. So we have almost zero older models, and when I say "older" I'm talking about 348's and 355's - probably 2 - 3 of each vintage around. 360's have also become very rare.

    Car ownership is just absurd here.

    In New Zealand you would pay $322,500 (usd) this is for a basic with no options, we have no taxes above that of a normal new car.

    On the second hand market you pay $73,500-$97,500 for a 348, $120,000-$150,000 for a 355, $150,000 to $265,000 for a 360.
    There is a 512TR in stock at F-NZ they have $187,500 on it, very rear car in New Zealand.

    I have converted all the $ to USD but it seems as though we have it ok down here.
