Hopefully somebody just bought a Murcielago RGT and decided that they wanted to mod it for street use.
I can assure you 100% that Lamborghini will NOT be making a nouveau version of the Miura, rest assured! They intent to allow the Miura to remain the iconic classic that it is. Joe www.joesackey.com
I say we get Roy at the bar at the of the Plaza on Cannery Row and ply him with drinks all night, then hopefully he will sing like a canary! Joe www.joesackey.com
If the night didn't start that way, I bet it will eventually get to that point! I'll get the first round... to-kill-ya shots anyone?!
Roy will it be road legal - glad to see you and Joe getting along they banned you on ********** - you're life never seems short of excitement!
obviously no one signed up for this (if true) is going to risk it by spilling the beans. so does anyone know when this is going to be officially announced ?
For some reason, I don't think it's going to be an equivalent of the FXX, or MC12 Corsa, which are pretty much race cars. I just doubt it because Reiter is the one who usually has done great success with the R-GT and have already been working on a new, more aerodynamic car. If it was the race equivalent of the FXX, I'd just expect to be a Reiter creation, not Lamborghini.
I move to dub the mystery machine the 'LXX' until the official announcement comes... Can I get a second? -Tad
murcie gt anyone? That probably might be the closest possibility... Rebodied Veyron also a remote possibility. But as to a completely brand new car with new chassis and engine.... not possible with Lamborghini simply because we have not seen spy shots of mysterious cars running around test tracks... The only thing we have seen is the 640 with the wing.... So perhaps this might be the gt or sv? If they could try to charge 500k for the versace edition.... 1.6 million for a super super aggressive murcie is not out of the question... and of course while we are on the subject of money... Lamborghini NEEDS to make profit.... and 32 million generated total sales is not enough to generate a well developed new super car....As a comparison... the veyron ate up 400 million of VW money in development cost.... Unless... on the outside and very remote possibility that Lamborghini decides not to make profit and make a halo car.... then its probable the most likely the first two possibilities....
That would even be worst if it is a rebodied veyron, its large million dollar POS with a W-16 slaped with four turbos . Lamborghini is about to flat line, first a V-8 powered Gallardo suppositly in the works, then talks with Toyota now they are thinking inside the box by fallowing what the Veyron, S7TT, Zonda, Enzo and FXX by becoming a million dollar car rather than build something inovatitive. Whats next? Lamborghini gives the green light for that SUV??? Oh look now even a soccer mom can drive a lamborghini!. Iam sorry guys its just that there has been many disapointments this year by Lamborghini for me. The only thing I can pray for out of this is the performance is unbeatable and it becomes the worlds fastest car which i highly doubt.
But usually people that have $1.5MM to burn on a car are smart enough not to do so for something that is anything less than deserving of the price. A SV Murci would not justify the price and I don't think there are even 10 people that would fall for that. I'm hoping (based on the price) that this car is something truly special and unique.
a rebodied veyron is a possibility like the mc12... And vw is probably asking Lamborghini to help unload some of the bugattis.... so voila... there might be your 20 exclusive cars.....
Ok, let me tell you facts as I saw the car (wasn't even a car but a 25% scale model), I will be getting the car, and I have a deposit on the car. The car was show to a select group by invitation only at Santa Monica Airport last week. The model (25% of the actual size of the car) was shown along with a video of the car and the story behind it. The actual car will be show for first time in Frankfurt. The model will be in Monterey. There are 20 cars total being made, only 10 will come to the US. All 20 are sold out already with a 12 person waiting list as of today. The car is based on a jet fighter and thus has many jet fighter characteristics. The only come in grey (like a jet fighter) and the interior is green (military but cool). The instrument panel is insane....can't even begin to tell you how cool that is and it's like being in a jet inside the car. The car is $1 million euros. Delivery begins next year. That's all I can say for now. It's built on a LP platform with the LP doors and mirrors but everything else it totally wild and new. You'll see it soon enough as several (4 I know of) OC locals are getting one!! I want to thank the awesome guys at Lambo OC who make buying a car fun again!! They rock!!
Yes, the car only comes in one color....fighter plane grey. A special one time only never to be duplicated color. Again, the car is based off a jet fighter. The deposit are 300k, not 100k and there are no specs on power so anything you hear will be BS. They aren't even sure yet how the tuning will end up.
Will it be street legal? Wonder if they got the idea from the Murci in Asia I think that was painted to look like a fighter plane - I'm sure someone can dig up pics. My question to you is why did you pay so much for something that share the LP chassis? Was it the rarity that was the impetus? The looks? It sounds to me the overall uniqueness of the project may have swayed you. It just seems a tremendous amount of money for a reconfigured Murci but then again - I don't have the money to buy and have not seen it - so I can't imagine my opinion matters much to the makers of the product
It's not even "April Fools Day". Based on a "jet fighter", I don't get it. First, they have a jet engine. Been there, done that (I really have) not gonna happen. Second, they don't have a steering wheel. Third, they are usually kinda long and pointy with a big tail (Dtype Jaguar?). Gray with green interior might be pretty cool but it would need a few "Danger Blast" and "No Step" decals here and there. And don't forget the "Bubble Top".
I agree guys...the color is something to digest, but if you get into the whole story it makes sense. The car is street legal. They spent many hours following the Raptor attack plane at various military bases and derive a lot from that as the inspiration, especially the instrument cluster which again is so awesome. The exclusivity and it's unique nature got me....plus anytime you can get a supercar at sticker you just do it and figure out the pieces later. It's pretty radical looking....alot like a fighter plane and the carbon is just insane. The only thing it shares are the doors from the LP and mirrors. The rest is totally new.
