    Phoned Ferrari this week to price up belt service on an 04 360 and was told that the left hand hydraulic tensioner has to be replaced...is this the case?Thought the newer cars had the modified tensioner..?Car has 6k on the clock...

    If you engine number is less than 83672 the tensioner should be updated to p/n 202784.

    You may also need to update to bracket 202786, but let your tech/shop advise you. They're not trying to scam you... it's a legitimate campaign.

    Yes, but there have been intermediate updates. That damn tensioner went through 3 or 4 variations I think. Just ask your dealer to confirm the currently installed part number.

    I have changed a number of them,even found one cracked at one of the mounting bolt holes and flapping in the breeze.Luckly didnt crack other side too or else the destruction would have been very expensive and would have ruined the customers day.
