Well...my wife are and I are excited to be moving from Tallahassee to Raleigh. While Tallahassee is a wonderful place to live, it is an Ferrari / exotic car waste land. I'm looking forward to getting plugged in with the local Ferrari group for gatherings, drives, etc.

We'll officially be in Raleigh the 1st week of September and my car should arrive about the same time.

While I'll miss the FCA event at VIR on 9/11, I'll look forward to participating in the next HPDE event. I used to live in Lynchburg VA so VIR is a very familiar place for me...I'm looking forward being close to VIR once again!

Greg - there are plenty of fall events that await! F1 viewings, drives, the "fall spectacular", etc. etc. Keep an eye on www.fca-nc.com for details.

    WELCOME!!

    Daniel, thanks for the heads-up!

One other thing, I never joined FCA while in Tallahassee because there were never any events (NONE!) within 3-4 hours. Now that I'm moving to Raleigh, I will definitely be joining.

Met Daniel several times at VIR...and I've tossed some $$ his way for parts as well!

    He is a great guy!

Relocated northerner huh? I started in Ohio, moved to Indiana, then to Virginia, out to Idaho, back to Virginia, down to Florida, and now to North Carolina...all in 17 years.

    Greg,

Good to hear that there will be another F-Car in the Raleigh area. The fall provides some of the best weather around here, so its a good time to go out for a drive.

    My path:
Akron, OH -> Summerville, SC -> Charleston, SC -> Cary, NC

I started in North Canton working for Babcock & Wilcox (Barbarton)

We're headed up to Raleigh this weekend on a house-hunt trip. Looking in Cary, Apex, Morrisville, and Holly Springs. Looking for 3-car, 3000sq ft., ~$400-450. Any good ideas?

Greg, My wife and I just moved here 2 months ago. So far we love it. As far a Ferrari stuff, there seems to be a lot to do here in NC, especially compared to Virginia. My introduction to some of the guys was superb - a great drive on a Saturday, all arranged by Daniel.

You can look in almost any neighborhood in Cary. Where are you working? Holly Springs will generally get you more house for the dollar but at the expense of having to drive further to work and to major shopping areas, restaurants, etc. Morrisville is growing like an epidemic and the growth is well past overtaking the infrastructure (newspaper said it was taking people 15 minutes to get out of their neighborhood). I haven't really been looking at the housing market that closely, so I'm not sure what neighborhoods are in that price range currently. If you've got a real estate agent you won't really need my help, but I'm available on Saturday if you need some help getting around. I'll be at VIR on Sunday. There's a few new developments (whose names I can't remember) that are probably in your range and the houses look very nice. One is on Maynard Rd. between High House and Chapel Hill Rd. and the other is on High House right near St. Michaels Catholic Church. Both of those are very near to me and they should be in that general price range. Again, let me know if you need any help.

About 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Takes about an hour to hit Greensboro.

    Hi Greg,

I'm in Raleigh also. Been here a long time. Won't be in town this weekend though, as I'm going on the FCA beach trip.
Welcome to Raleigh. Will you be working in RTP?

Well Greg, the two neighborhoods I was thinking of probably aren't going to work.

Highland Oaks (Pulte Homes) doesn't have any homes with three car garages. Their site is here:

    http://www.pulte.com/homefinder/community.asp?commorg_acctcode=2570&ss={B4EA86A4-EEE3-47DF-A3E8-24860B40F158}

The other is called Coles Creek and they have some very nice homes with three car garages, but they are nearly $650,000. They only have five houses built so far and you can look at them here:

    http://www.dreeshomes.com/jsp/neighborhood.do?nelNbCode=CCK&jsessionid=E2A87ED3730007E6B4382BF6A31FDA9F

The attached images are two of the homes from Coles Creek.

I found it invaluable when we were house hunting.

right now cary/apex/morrisville/HS only has 2 homes in the 400-450k range with a 3 car garage.

I have a house in Raleigh on the north side of town. I do not remember you saying it but you should also look in Wake Forest area. Some nice places there. Closer to the city you are not likely to find anything in your price range with a 3-car.

Look forward to meeting you when I get out of here!

I'll be working in RTP off of Davis Dr. As of yesterday, we decided to build and will probably try to find a lot in the Morrisville, Apex, Cary, Holly Springs area.

    Appreciate your help.

...well, get out of there dammit!

    Working on it.....

BTW there are two places to get your car worked on in NC that I recomend.

    Sport Auto in Greensboro

    &

    Kraus & England in Raleigh.

Just do a search here and you will find plenty of reviews!

Doc, Peter actually sold his interest in the shop and it has a new name. Something with Apex in the name, there is another thread on here discussing it.

Well...Finally got moved in and the Ferrari was delivered this past Thursday evening! I spent the day today getting her clean and ready to go to Apex Vintage for some repairs that have been driving me nuts!

Have any of the local F-car owners / Ferrari-F1 enthusiasts been getting together for Sunday AM F1 viewings?

Look forward to meeting some of the locals F-chatters!

We haven't but it sounds like a good idea. I guess no one has really stepped forward to handle it. Usually a lot of the viewings are handled on the FCA-NC level and are held at places like Sport Auto.
