    I'm looking for a CD player under $2500. Would someone have access to Stereophile's or Absolute Sounds recommended list? Could you list 4 or 5 players. Thank you

    let me add: strictly 2 channel CD. The player is not going to be used for SACD, DVD etc

    Well... somebody's ideas under $2500 were:

    Rega Saturn ($2395)
    Atoll Electronique CD200 ($2000)
    Cary CDP-1 ($2000)
    Creek CD50 Classic MkII ($1495)
    Cyrus CD 8x ($1995)

    My personal idea would be to pick up a Sony SCD-777es (built like a 50# pound tank) on the used
    market for just a bit over a grand & spend the rest having it refurbed & modified by one of the more reputable mod firms - would likely have the five listed above for dinner.

    I'm running a 777es in my system (not modified to this point) & prefer it to the Cary and Creek above for CD playback.

    Check out the Arcam CD36 $ 1999. Amazing sound quality for the price.

    I've always thought my now-ancient Nak MB-1s offered great performance for the money (which is under $1K). Back any CD player with some MC1000s or equivalent and you'll have nice sound ;)
