http://www.wreckedexotics.com/boxer/boxer_20050921_001.shtml Cabin held up well, wonder if this car is back on the road?
The colors and year are right for mine, and I don't know exactly where it was in 89... But I'm reasonably sure it was in the US that year.
I hope tomorrow I will be able to post photos of my Boxer when I was rear ended while stationary on July 1. I am curious as to your opinions, especially Franklin, of the ensuing inferno vs. the actual impact damage. I think anyone that owns a Boxer will find the photos very interesting.
Im interested to see them as well, please post when you can. You mentioned in another post you hadnt given a replacement much thought, are you leaning at all towards another boxer? Glad you're feeling better. P.
Ron, nice to see you posting a little again! I for one would be very interested in seeing the pictures of your car, not to see your destroyed car, but to try to examine the pictures for the cause of the fire, and possible solutions to prevent it from happening with other cars. I realize posting the pictures will be difficult for you, but if the cause of the fire can be determined, it might help save another car, or someone elses life. I hope youre felling a little better now, and that your physical therapy is going well. Best Regards, John
For learning purposes I'd like to see them also and how well the car held up From the looks of it it appears the car that hit Ron did it right where the fuel tanks are, they may have handled the impact by crushing which is what they do and not leaking badly but on the pass side is where the fuel pumps are, a decent movement could rupture the lines and have fuel pumped and sprayed all over, could have ruptered the main balance line that runs from tank to tank as well on the bottom.
His car was injected, pumps on both sides under the floor and hard to hit, as well the CIS doors stop the pumps if the car shuts off preventing a continuous supply of fuel for a fire.
Ok, I knew it was injected didn't know they moved the pumps around, they are on the lower bulkhead in front of the pass tank on my bb, 2 pumps and a fuel filter
