There is a good chance that my car may be done around this time. It is over at Custom Cars in LaGrange. IF it works out that I can just pick it up (State Farm would like this as it would save them a $694 tow bill!) I'll pick it up on Saturday, stay in Lemont and meet up with the caravan Sunday AM... At this point I'm 50/50... Oh Yeah, who is coming the farthest for this gathering? JIM Fort Wayne
This is a get together for exotic cars and their owners. I am not looking for owners to come in their daily driver and say they have an exotic car "at home". If the weather looks iffy that day I'll agree that owners can drive their daily driver. If the weather is nice this show is for those (and a passenger if they have one) willing to drive their exotic car to attend. I hope you can respect that wish. Thanks Rodney
Do we know that this event (as much as I'd like to attend) conflicts with another Ferrari Central States calendar event? It is the Geneva Concours. See below: Geneva Concours is Now a FCA Event August 26 After meeting with John Barrett and receiving special consideration(Our own Street for Ferrari Parking) We have added this event to our schedule. Please come out and support The American Diabetes Association. We have room for 20-30 cars. SIGN UP NOW !!! I went to this concours last year and it was an outstanding event. Sorry I will not be there. Ron
Rodney, Jim is a recent owner and his Ferrari was involved in an accident. I really don't think he should be excluded because his car isn't back from the shop. I know he'll drive it if it's ready, but give him a break if it isn't!
We chose this date long before FCA decided to make the Geneva Concours part of their events schedule. At the beginning of this year I offered FCA our calendar to avoid such conflicts but got no response back.
Rodney, let me make sure I completely understand what you're saying. If anyones 'exotic/s', is/are layed up for any reason, they are not welcome to attend??? Andreas, what did you expect?
I will stop by LFSC to send you guys off. Sadly ,can't drive farther since I have a flight overseas same day.
Due to popular request we will make a meeting time change for the group drive to Rodney's in Caledonia, WI this Sunday August 26th. Instead of meeting at 9:00 AM, we will meet an hour later at 10:00 AM , so you can sleep a bit longer, or better yet, isn't there an F1 race that morning? Just a Reminder: We will meet on N. Shore Drive in Lake Bluff, IL just before the entrance to LFSC (Lake Forest Sports Cars), on Sunday August 26th at 10:00 AM. See the maps on page 2 of this thread. We will then take Green Bay Rd. North to Wisconsin. Caledonia WI is just NW of Racine. See you there! Dave
10:00AM !!!! Sheesh, I won't even have had breakfast yet. Week days I get up about 10; week ends I like to sleep in!
Thanks - that's great because I have over an hour drive to get to the meeting point. Now I can sleep to 7.... Looks like the weather will be beautiful this Sunday- good date picking Rodney.
Indeed we bought insurance to protect the FOC directors against liability lawsuits from 3rd parties for the drive portion. In addition each participant in the drive will also have to sign a disclaimer. Sad, but a sign of the times. Regarding the Concourse: Every participant will get a voting ballot for his/her favourite 3 Ferraris. Like in racing the ranking matters and will award points to the cars. At the end of the concourse I will tabulate the points and hand out three big crystall glass trophies to the first three. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, it looks like the car won't be ready in time. I'll likely have it sometime next week which is great , but I was really looking forward to driving up for this event. I would beg to drive my daily, but I drive ALOT for my job and dread driving that vehicle anywhere on the weekends. Not to mention that I TOTALLY understand MERA's desire to have an 'all Ferrari' event. It looks like Sunday is going to be GORGEOUS. Hopefully the Chicagoland area is recovered from the storms today for those of you driving from/thru that area. I'm sure there will be, but be sure to post lots of pics! I hope you have a great event Rodney!!! JIM Ft. Wayne
Looks like the weather is going to be very nice. Lucky us. Make sure some of you guys bring cameras. You guys may want to bring some lawn chairs. You may or may not need them. I have the caterer bringing food for 60. I have no idea how many will be showing up. Rodney Dickman
Window is working. A loose wire. Now the rear view mirror has fallen off! Ugh, what next? Got some adhesive, so should be ready to go Sun.
Unfortunately, at this point, I may not be able to make it. My area of Mt Prospect was hit extremely hard by the storm. I don't have electric or phone. Where I live, we had a micro-burst which took out most of my 50 yr old trees. My property looks like a war zone. We have big trees down in about a 6 sq block area. A number of trees have crushed cars and houses. It was the worst storm and caused the most damage in Mt Prospect's history. If I can make it I will, but right now it doesn't look good. The Emp
Emp, That really sucks! I hope you get things cleaned up in a hurry!! Glad you are OK after that storm ripped thru the area! JIM
