Awesome!! Congrats mate!! Welcome to the Brotherhood again and I am looking forward to seeing more pics. Enjoy your weekend Marc, I know you will.
348 looks great, how did you choose to buy a 348? Unique choice, your fleet is very diverse. Is the Honda the daily driver, and the exotics are for weekend/track duty? Is that a Diablo SV?
348 Challenge cars are pretty rare and the only Challenge cars except first year 355s that can be tunred loose back onto the street with a few mods like mufflers... Sorry they flogged you so hard in the other thread, brudda. We'd really like to help out with your old car.
Thank you! The Honda S2000 is my spring/summer/fall daily. I also have a Lexus IS250 AWD as my winter daily. Exotics are definitley for weekend/any nice day use. Yes, that is an SV. The 2 will be fighting for the lower tier in the garage. I was in between the 348 and 355. Here is a quote from Shark01 in an earlier topic "But the 348 represents (IMO) the best VALUE in the Ferrari world.....the best combination of price, performance (sorry 328), and style." I agree 100% with that statement.
This one appears to be a "street" 348CH, as in one of the '94s that has the roll cage mounting plates but didn't have the Challenge kit installed and was not otherwise track-equipped. These were never race cars to begin with, and therefore don't have anything to unmodify in order to "return" them to the street, as they never left! Now the 348CH race cars were track-only, and even with mufflers, etc. may not be street-legal once modified by dealer installation of the Challenge kit (laws vary by State). The owners signed an agreement not to convert them back to street cars. Once sold that agreement did not always hold up. All 348's challenge cars had a street title and techically form a DOT perspective are street legal in all states. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car looked superb on Ron Tonkin's website and looks superb in your pictures as well. Have fun with her. Don't worry about small issues. They should be easy to fix with the help of the 'hood!
All 348s did have titles and were street legal when sold, but the DOT may differ with your conclusion once they were modified. In addition, many of the Challenge mods render the cars illegal in most States, so unless the car is thoroughly returned to pre-conversion specs you may have trouble in States that inspect prior to issuing tags. Of course, some States are more lax than others . . .
It depends on the mods you leave installed, the roll bar is a definate no-no in all states for the street as well as a bad idea to bang your head on it without helment... And the muffler would definately have to go back on, to stand a chance on noise levels! Except once a year, in New Orleans.........
