Anybody know anything about it? My wife just picked up a bottle of Jack Daniels "Green" that somehow came from an estate sale...one and only bottle the store had. As an aspiring whisky "addict/lover" just wondering if anybody knows anything.....???? Thanks.
lower end 86 proof pre- 2004 the black was 90 proof and now they are 80 proof in the US. now the black is 86 where legal. a bit confusing, it was a US law issue. post 2004 the green is 80 snipit "According to David White of Forman-Brown, this whiskey was produced for the Czech Republic and a limited number of American states. However, I know these bottles are also available in parts of Spain and other European countries. This is the lowest quality of Jack Daniels Whiskey on the market and is distilled at an alcoholic content of 40%. Like the black label, it is available in a variety of sizes, from the 5cl up to 1.5 litre."
From what I remember from when I toured the distillery in Lynchburg,Tn, smg is right. It had to do with some localities had laws concerning % of alcohol content. It was made just like the black and silver label but some alcohol was let to evaporate off IIRC. Dave
This is correct. I used to warehouse the empty bottles for Jack Daniels and the Green was 80 proof (40% alcohol) and Black was 86 proof (43%) Now they have lowered Black's proof to 80 and done away with Green as I understand.
