FERRARI 599 GTB FIORANO or LAMBORGHINI LP640

Well if I wanted a car that would get attention and go like hell, the LP640 would be the clear choice. I can't think of anything else I'd want, so the Lambo gets my vote.

 

I havent driven either, but I have sat in both. Comfort wise the 599 wins easily, aesthetically they are very different. The interior on the 599 gets my vote, well the exterior is a toss up, but I do like the LP640 maybe a nudge more. The 599 seems more user friendly from what ive read and very usable whereas the lambo makes you the number one show in town (not always a bad thing i guess). Overall I would have to go with the 599, quick beautiful and usable, though the LP640 is brutally powerful and looks extremely sexy.

If I had to choose I'd take the 599.

The Lambo is too much of an eyecatcher and would attract too much jealousy (at least where I live).

Also, the 599 seems to be more of a DD and I think you are getting more car for the money.

 

Both cars are tremendous performers but think about what you can do with the car. If you want to spend a weekend away with your honey and have fresh clothes to wear or a camera bag to use, the 599 is a hands down winner. The Lambo is a day sailer, a very nice day sailer but totally useless for any overnight touring.

 

I would take the 500.

You own both! What problems you must have deciding which car to take in the morning....

They are very different cars and I love them both. If I could choose only 1 and was not allow to sell it I would pick the 599 because it is quite a bit more practical.

If I had my own way, though, I'd sell the 599 and buy a Gallardo and a 365GTC or similar V12 from the '60ies instead. I'd keep my current 550 to complete the stable from everyday cruiser to howling screamer to beautiful classic.

They are two different types or class of cars. One is a GT and one is a Sports (or in this case a Super). They should not be compared to each other.

Of topic, the design team that came up with the rear end and or tail lights of the Gallardo and Murcie should be working in a different department. Those tail lights are bad, really bad. IMHO they taint both cars and neither will go down as a true "classic", the 599GTB WILL.

About time someone mentioned about the rear end of the bulls....although I love the front and side views.

Interesting post by an owner. The LP640 is the first Lambo to tempt me in many years. I would (and have) gone for the 599 for a reason that has nothing to do with the car - I enjoy the Ferrari Owner's Club events. Lambo is too small in Hong Kong to have the mass for events. I did not enjoy driving the LP640 as much as the 599. Nothing wrong with the Lambo, I just did not feel as confident. I drove the 2 cars back to back on a track I know very well and I did not bond with the LP640. The LP640 with Tubie makes an awesome noise.

i'd take the Lp640. but the Ferrari looks cooler, easier to drive and handle, and an everyday car.

I think the 599 is the better choice. My opinion, is that the 599 has the racing pedigree and heritage. The Bull is a visually striking car and quite incredible, however, it does not have the tie ins....The Enzo, the F1 cars, the history. I realize there is some that goes with the Lambo, but i think there is that subtle difference that is intrinsic to the feeling of the car. The Lambo is an incredible car and feels amazing now, the Ferrari has that special feeling that you get when you realize that you are connected to the greatness behind it.

However, in order to render a better opinion, I will require some research. For this research, as a service FOR you, I will require both of those cars for a couple of weeks. You can expect a detailed report when I am complete. ALong with photos of most of the USA.

The 599 is a thousand times more classy.

The Lambo is an attention whores car and it's really that simple. No one track a lambo, they have no racing background. They're for attention.
