    Hope they're ok. I think this may be the end of his drifting days.

    I feel like I know them too. I hope nicks friend does not die. I know I could not live with that for the rest of my life. I wish nick a speedy recovery and I hope he SLOWS down. I don't understand how Hulk could allow a 17 year old son to have this kind of a toy. I was not ready for that at 17.

    as stupid a move as this was, i wouldn't wish anything other than a speedy recovery and hope that he learned something from it. I rolled a car when i was 18 [asleep at teh wheel, fwy, hit the median, rolled 2-3 times] and was lucky to get out with some deep cuts and no real damage. i was out of the hospital in a few days [good thing i was in a volvo] -- since then i've been the most paranoid driver... :p

    Nick Hogan is now at home resting, the passenger is still in the hospital to say the least.

    Very sad indeed. I think Hulk should not buy this kid another car. :(

    Unforunately not. They plan to do 1 more season.

    Needs to be update as ironically, Nick decided he'd start drifting a 350Z instead of the Viper. Unsurprisingly, he showed better results in it than the Vipers, which was just a few days before this little event.

    The first reports sound like the injury is bad. If he pulls out of this, I'm sure he will slow down now. He may have some permanent injury as well.

    Lets face it If we were offered a car like this when we were 17 we would of all taken it. That said Nick drifts for a hobby/living. To say he doesnt know how to drive a high HP car might be partially true but he has more experiance then alot of us. In a 700hp or rwhp car 120 is just seconds away. To say if you owned this car when you were 17 that you wouldnt of got after this car once is most likely a lie.

    Nick has a broken arm and some broken ribs. He was suppose to go into a cat scan to figure out anything else. Hes friend is still in critical condition with head trama.

    Apparently not - when I got into racing, it made me realize how stupid it was to go so fast on the street where you have little control. He took his 'racing' to the street which is exceedingly dumb.

    My thoughts exactly! Unfortunate event that could have easily been avoided. The parents also should have given him a shorter leash or more instruction. the success Terry has had in his career has been projected into an unwarranted expectation of abilities in his son. I was not a good driver as a kid (maybe still not that good), but my dad made me learn in a relatively slow car for a year, then a little more power for year 2. I can guarantee if I had wrecked a few times previously I would not be driving a car as powerful as that Supra. Hope he gets well in any case. Terry seems to be one of the most watchable of the reality TV personalities. I really feel bad for him.

    I bet his father has rounding up some attorneys to plan for a impending lawsuit, I hope everyone involved pulls though for the best but I have a feeling Nick's stunt will cost his father some serious green.

    Thats awful. There seems to be a lot of this with younger drivers with tuner cars. Just this past week 4 teens in a WRX were killed here in Connecticut. Excessive speed and lost control. A couple years ago one of my very close friends was killed when 4 teens in a 3 series BMW lost control and slammed him. Excessive speed and drunk. There is no better feeling than hitting triple digits and watching telephone poles look like a picket fence. But, with traffic around and limited skills your just a loaded gun with a hair trigger. Very sad.

    he might have the skill, but it doesn't mean he has the maturity to handle a car like that.

    ++.

    The latest reports say that DUI is not a factor, at least. The passenger may very well be worse off than the driver.

    Here is an opportunity for responsible sports figures to make a statement on reckless teenage driving.

    Seems to be like the uniting factor here is alcohol. In a modern 3-series or WRX, going 100+ shouldn't be a problem if conditions permit. The problem is when stupidity or alcohol makes people ignore the "conditions" part.
