Not a lot of room to feed air into it, looks like the compressor intake is right up against the firewall!! Assume you have some plumming in mind otherwise you'll be getting some interesting compressor stall / surge with all the lovely associated banging and thumping !!!

Interesting project however and looking forward to seeing how it develops even though I hate to see a good Ferrari getting the chop !

I think the Aspiring one is fooling you into thinking she is much older than they she really is. IIRC the poster is a teenager who wants to be in F1 someday. At least he / she has good writing skills! And I am also looking forward to the finished project. BTW, it is NOT your money. All the money will end up at the government, so you are only temporarily holding it for them Craig!

I have about 4 inches at present and will have more as I will be ducting it where the rear shelf used to be so the air intake uses the side grills.

Can you say "Plasma Cutter" :)

I guess the big question is whether you say things like that to someones face. I would imagine not.

"wow I think I am ruined for life"

Some guy wasted insane amounts of money by looking for a trade route to India. And guess what, he totally failed. Instead he found some stupid island and then some empty land mass. He named it America.

People who define their own reality and do these kinds of things clearly are wasting their time and money. Everybody should be doing as they're told. Thinking outside the box is stupid.

Kriss: I hope that others aren't as critical about how you spend your money and life as you are to the OP. I'm sure there are some things you spend your money on that others would be outraged by. Or some people might think that spending their time in Boise, Idaho is a waste of a life.

    *shrug*

Not trying to be critical of you Kriss, but just trying to shed some light on your narrow view.

In fact, I don't claim to know him personally as a man or know his views, but isn't the whole reason Enzo Ferrari started his own racing team because he thought he could do it better? He thought the bar could be raised higher and to hell with all of the naysayers. Perhaps even a part of him that went against the grain because he enjoyed disproving the critics over and over. I see this as no different. If flushing money down your toilet makes you happy then I say buy a big toilet. There is a part of me that would find enjoyment out of doing this sort of project despite the purists. Be your own person.

putting a Chevy or Lamborghini motor in a Ferrari doesn't make a lot of sense. Putting a turbine in, it just sounds friggin cool.

Besides, why should a cool project like this be subjected to (IMO) an 'ugly' body like a Mustang or other car when it could be encased in something as gorgeous as a TR? Just because it's a Ferrari doesn't mean it's loved by all, including those in the Ferrari world.

    I agree with Jet-X 100%!

As for all the naysayers out there ... ignore them. Alot of us would like to think we might undertake something as interesting and different as this but in reality we probably wouldn't be brave enough to try let alone even know where to start. Therefore, I am experiencing this enthusiastic undertaking through your eyes and am enjoying it. Looking forward to the end product. The naysayers can have their say and then move on ...

Turbine engine... not too good for drifting with what passes for throttle response.

A while back in this thread, I was reconnected to a turbine 32 Ford that I hadn't seen in a very long time. A helpful fchatter pointed me to http://www.lemaymuseum.org where the car is located. Turns out, the museum is only a handful of miles from where I live, so I visited the once-a-year-show and saw the turbine car. The guy who built the car (Leonard aka Lenny) was there, and remembered heating up the paint on my 56 Bel-Air all those years ago. I told him about this TRbine project and he gave me a link with his contact info http://www.lennybabe.net ... I bet he'd be happy to receive an email from you 4Yacht, and he might even have interesting info or contacts you could use. He's a very cool guy and was very excited to hear about your project.

As I took a glimpse of different responces I came to a conclusion
The ferrari passion can still be maintained with this modification. But it has to be done in a carefull way
I will not argue, if you take out the stock engine and put in a turbine, yes it is placing aftermarket parts on the car. In that sense the originality is lost.
But here is how I think that passion that ferrariness can be kept
The problem with turbine engines is when placed on cars, it basically looks like someone welded a jet engine in the trunk and left it at that. For example recently there was a beetle that had an turbine swap. I cant help but take it for a joke. Its kind of like that guy who put a blown v8 into a CRX. The car simply looks like a freak show. VERY DISTURBING!http://felixwong.com/news/wp-photos/jet_beetle_ron_patrick2.jpg http://www.imperium.de/fusseltuning/data/media/10/civiccrx.jpg
The way I think the ferrari badge could be kept is by altering not only the engine compartment, but by modifying the entire body to appear as if nothing but a turbine belongs in the car. Here is a very loose sketch of what Im talking about. If you are interested I can do some illustrations of possible directions of this rossa's complete status. You can check out my site for examples. ROMALISA.com Im not saying the car needs a drastic body mod either, that again will go from the pureness that Ferraris have.
That is how I feel about your ride.

    Awesome Cat.

I have a Daytona crashbox ready to go in as we speak and the N2 brake is ready to go as well. I have considered though a JW shorty case with the non TC circle track setup. Nice and short
