Today my 0844 is almost ready. As ever work on the engine is still in progress but here is a picture of the car without it (not noticable). Car had to be painted red because the diecast pieces came from green and yellow cars. After that I rebuilt the interior, removed the original seats and stuff to put in a white racing seat with black seatbelts and a plexiglass kind of a thing behind it with a black foam headrest. I crafted a roll bar and added some detail to the dashboard. I painted black sun protection on the windscreen and built a proper gear lever. Wheels were painted gold, car got white racing numberplates, new Ferrari badge, gaze in the tailpiece, yellow towing loops, cap around the wiper and I added the standard details to the body like lights, bolts, decals, alloy inner panels etc. Then I had to built those funny mirrors and put them in place. Looking back is much easier now...
First the engine and then back to CS2 to make some nice decals.

    Cars (almost) finished in my collection: 0844, 0846, 0848, 0850, 0856, 0860, 0900. We're getting somewhere.

In a while it's time to concentrate fully on the building of a second 0846 and then start with completing 0854. After that it's 0858 time. Then it's christmas time I suppose.

If i recall correctly doesn't a 250 GTO hold the record for the most expensive car ever sold at auction?

Wonderful work on the models btw, can't wait to see them completely finished.

Looks like a fun project, hopefully you'll put up some progress pics while you're working on it.

Going to collect the kit in Belgium this Fryday at minidelta. They will probably have a display of a few Patrice de Conto ferrari's ( I hope).

We are also trying to see the Ecurie Franchorchamps Library of mr. Swaters. If it's possible and authorized I will make some pictures.

This promises to be an exciting day!!!!

I'll keep you posted, and show the builders among us what the kit looks like,
(it's made of a resin with karbon, ultrathin and strong).

The 0844 model is ready apart from carburettors and ignition system. I want to fit the carburettors of a Bburago 250 LM 1:18, but things has to be adapted to get that right. That will take some time and thinking so I'll get that done after I finished some other projects. In the meantime here are some pics of 0844. Making the decals was fun! The car is in Classic Challenge livery and can be seen on YouTube during the Jim Clark Revival at Hockenheim that year. I made a nice Trend media decal which is only on one side and the electrical cut-off switch decal is a Sparco one from an online catalog.

Fingers crossed Mattel keeps their butter fingers off P4/5. Please Jim let someone good make P4/5 ... AutoArt or Kyosho, at the very least!

What's wrong with Mattel, can't non-rich people be able to buy a model car?

The problem is that if Mattel gets to do it , they will probably make it only in the "super(laughable)elite" for $250 and the quality of the model still would not match that of a $90 Kyosho. If they make it in their (still laughable)"elite" series it would still sell for $90 and it would be definitely not nearly as good as the Kyosho or Autoart (altho Autoart simply don't have a license to do Ferrari models)
And by the way I am getting tired of people pulling the "what about us regular folk" card in here. Everyone here is regular people and most of us are NOT rich. We just have a passion about the cars and would like to see some quality reproductions in scale.
There are plenty of Chevy Camaros in 1:18 in Walmart for $19, thank you very much.................

The only problem is I am not talking about a piece of junk model car like you mention $19. I am talking about a higher quality car. Sorry I asked

True. Can you imagine the $$$ if one of the Royales went to auction today? I'm guessing $25 mill.

Somewhere in that order of magnitude would be my guess, but if you get two rabid bidders on it, who knows.

Five Royales (an awesome sight) were present at this years Goodwood Festival of Speed and the figure banded around was £30 million ($60 million) for the group.
I'm not sure of individual histories of the car to dictate which one could be worth more or less than the next.

I feel most certain that if the Coupé Napoleon (#41100, the Royale prototype, which was Ettore's personal car) was ever sold, it would probably become the most expensive of them all!! :) For now the record is held by the Kellner 2-door sedan #41141 which sold at auction in 1987 for a World record sum! The car was listed at £6,500,- for the Olympia Motor Show in 1932..... more than double the price of the finest Rolls Royce at the show!!! :)

    Hi everybody,

I'm painting cheap 1:18 Ferrari P4's which are over ten years old an far more worse then any Hotwheels model. But man, when you paint them! Painting is cheap, tranquillising, it smells a bit but you can build you own custom collection with some effort! Make cars, not war! O, and there is a model of a Bugatti Royale by Solido. It's way to small for 1:18 and it can use some detailled paintwork too. No this time I'm not going to do that...

    Have a nice day!

    Wouter Bekker

BTW. Work on 0854 is still going on. The body has now it's blue striping, back and front and today I did the inner side of it in aluminium. Hell, what a car!

You are doing great job of transforming these models in something good looking. I am same way and find building and painting these models very calming experience. Yes they can become really good with some work.
Keep up the good work and post more pictures.

Oh, and thank you for bringing this thread back on track.

    Hi P4 enthusiasts!

My last model is finished BUT unfortunately I can't upload any more pictures...
I have to subscribe now I'm affraid!

Anyway, the work on 0858 has come to an end and it is a beautiful recreation of the car during it's run at Monza 1967. It carries #4, Scuderia Ferrari Badges, home made vintage Carello decals 'PROVA MO-36' sign and it has no nose wings. I must say the result is a very clean P4 without any disturbing stripes or things. Pretty beautiful. Remember 0858 in Monza trim came in second behind the winning Ferrari 330 P4 s/n 0856 carrying #3. At Le Mans with #21 it was the first losing Ferrari to the Fords. That's why I did choose this Monza version of the car.

I don't like the 350 CanAm configuration it is in now. That's why I didn't built the car like this.

Do you like to see pictures of my 330 P3/4, 412P and 330 P4 cars? Just give me your private email adres and I will load your mailbox with high resolution pics! Just send me a mail!

    Kind regards,
    Wouter Bekker
