Not true...you can change the cam belt in a 348 by dropping the fuel tank...but you cannot re-degree the cams ...

Engine out NOT required for timing belt or Major Service (30K) on 308/328/F40/456/550/360/575/430(430 no belts).

Engine out required for TR (all variations)/348/t Coupe and Cab/355.

I learned NEVER to do "just belts"... <scowl> The 360 is actually pretty easy, compared to the earlier cars...

Always told folks (until these bulletins came out) 4 to 7 years or 15K miles, whatever came first.

Along with a highly respected dealer (who everyone respects from this board) and is a forty-year veteran of these cars, haven't seen a failure.

-Peter (twenty-seven years of doing "majors," now time to do mine...)

Seems that if they change the quoted manuals, they need to provide the written changes to the manual etc.: TSB's should be distributed even if generic in manner otherwise it's like my credit card company NOTgiving me those spam mailling on how my 'Terms of Failure' have changed.

then your are just replacing the belt, and not doing the job correctly....ask me how I know [ok, will tell you, cams not re-degreed correctly even on the engine out and had to do entire job over: couldn't pass smog and begin of firing problems...re-done=ok now]

can enter the engines front end, sort of, via the inspection panel on the Mondial T's back seat area [wish they would have expanded that hole], but can't do much there.

Just replacing the belt gives some peace of mind, but believe you would be best to do it all and get it over with....and

How the heck could you really get the water pump out otherwise????

Daniel, hats off to you for your DIY engine out......BTW, which discounted RicambiAmerica entry can I order that...next to those chopsticks?

Man, they cannot handle my RossoFerrari magazine mailing correctly more than twice a year, asking for the TSBs might overwhelm them! LOL!

They DID send a letter scratching their heads over when Valeria's car was purchased......

    "1980....Ron Tonkin....."

I'm still getting Porsche mailings as a past/future Porsche owner: never owned a Porsche....just able to drive them via my [now defunct] Porsche sales manager girl friend...she had used my name and address many times to 'register' temporary ownership or some such thing, I can't get off their mailing list: well, can supply ebay junkies with stuff and pay for Ferrari gas bills.

I finally gave up on FNA, after writing several letters......they only want to send it to NEW Ferrari owners, apparently..

My three five digit VINs don't appear to count.....

Strangely there's no subscription info at all......I have looked and contacted the publisher, the mailing list originates at FNA....

No, it's crazy, when I wrote them to point out there were TWO Ferraris at her address, they mailed two current issues, then delivery promptly stopped................ROTFLMAO!

No wonder the Classiche Department is having trouble ramping up!

After 26 years there are a lot of leaking seals and other issues. Could it have been done with the engine in, probably, but it was going to make it easier to do it with the engine out. It is down to the short block and has been gone over very closely. As usually happens, one step led to another and it just made sense to do things in the proper manner. I could have had them put in the new belts, etc., and passed the car off to some unsuspecting buyer, but I can't do that. Now I will keep the car and enjoy it without having to worry about it.

...and you will note that cam belts are not even part of the 30k service...at least not in service books that I have for my former 328, TR and 348...

Yeah, I sell a collection of manuals on PDF for the 360 (parts, workshop, updates, etc). I just pulled out that page and made it into a smaller PDF. But it is the Ferrari TSB on the belts :)
