Perhaps depreciation is the main culprit keeping them off that list?

That would be my guess also. Or maybe the sales too small also.

I couldn't see that Fcars were even mentioned.

In this regard, they would do pretty good.
    Sept. 02 - Bought Enzo 650k

    Depreciation? What's that again? :D

    What's up with the GT3...?

This may be a little deceiving as depreciation may be based on people paying sticker price. How many of those luck soles are there out there these days? I'd think if their calculations were based on actual purchase prices you'd see a difference. Based on a market price you're looking at a $10K or more hit a year, depreciation alone.

This is the 996 GT3 as the 997 is too new. The 996's took a bath.

I'd guess Ferrari/Lambo/AM/Bugatti and others weren't included due to small sales volume, as suggested above.

Not surprising. MB depreciation now is gut-wrenching. No one wants these things after warranty.

It's funny though, I remember when a Mercedes SL was the most depreciation-resistant car you could buy (back in the '80s maybe). Even the secondary market for them was frantic.

Do the math (an important lesson for life, anyway).

$10k/year in depreciation multiplied by the 5 year time period for the article above gives you $50k in depreciation.

Well, $50k doesn't even have the right order of magnitude for the costs of the top 10 above!

Assuming Ferrari's were even considered for the list - i suspect you are right. If the MSRP for a 168,000 in 2005 and someone paid 350k for it....5 years down the road the sale price of that vehicle will still be above 168k resulting in "positive depreciation."

And like someone else pointed out...this isn't even considering the enzo model which will most likely never see depreciation at all.

Huge costs of ownership have dramatic effects on the "prestige" of affording these cars. Gotta love human nature!

Minor correction to this list... the CL will not be available as a 'Conv' until 2009.

While I am a little surprised this list isn't comprised soleley and entirely of AMG's, I'm not at all surprised to see the top MBs in the top three slots either...

    Oh, and it's Geländewagen. :)

Only the strong of heart and mind should look at GT2 depreciation.

I'll wait one more year.... if I can.

what about the ford gt even though it is cheap its very bad on fuel and it is incredibly unpractical because of the door design

If you own a car like the Ford GT, you do not care that it has poor gas mileage, just like most Ferrari and other exotic car owners do not care about their car's gas mileage. As for the doors, they are easy to get used to. It only took me two times to get used to them.

You aren't going to get $172,000 worth of lost depreciation out of a $120,000 car!

its really not that bad... the "other Jeremy" tends to piss and moan about the smallest things sometimes. That and too many people hang on what he says.

porsche just makes way too many cars for the market. i can't turn around w/out seeing a 911 model somewhere. gt3s are relatively rare not because of price but because of usability, but I see 911 turbos which are most expensive all the time. Too much brand dilution with nice cars these days.

Haha. I remember when you'd try to trade on a new SL in the late 80's and the dealer would ask what you had to trade for free, and there was an 18 month waiting list :)
