This is not the result we were hoping for. Maybe Alonso and Hamilton will take each other out in curve one.

Opps! At least I'm in the right country. Michael did retire at Monza last year, didn't he?

All of Hamilton's wins have been from pole too. Alonso has won once from pole and twice from second place. Kimi has won once from pole, once from second and once from third place. Traffic is a pain in the *** for everybody. There was only one real passing move for first place: Alonso's move on Massa at the Ring (with Massa having tire trouble). All others were done through pit stop strategy.

Ferrari was expected to do well at Turkey, Monza and Spa. So not qualifying on the front row can mean two things: 1. Ferrari's in trouble and McLaren is faster, or: 2. the Ferraris are heavier and will go for a different pit stop strategy. Let's hope it's the last one. At least both Ferraris are on the clean side of the grid.

    Best, Peter

Actually in the past (altho not with Ferrari) Reikonen has won from 5th.

Let's hope he can repeat that (allthough for the WDC it would be better for Massa to win - every point counts). I was talking about the 2007 season though.

Definitely. I found his comments really kept me interested more than the usual Varsha - Hobbs back and forth chatter.

By what standards? Compared to top Formula 1 drivers, then no he isn't. Compared to racing drivers outside F1, say in touring cars or something, Ralf might be quite good compared to them. I think was was good, He beat Montoya the first year they were together, then Montoya became better, but he didn't exactly blow Ralf away, they were still competitive.

perhaps kimi's shunt this morning was actually practice for his kamakazie attack tomorrow in the race. what if, since kimi doesn't have a shot at the wdc, he's planning on taking alonso and hamilton out in the first turn leaving massa to take the win.

i tend to disagree. he was challenging for the WCC together with Monty and Kimi back in 2003. IIRC, he won back to back races in France and in Germany i think that year.

but i mean, he really took a huge step backwards, isn't it. it wasn't like he slowly starting to fade off, i really think that huge crashes he had did some massive damage to his confidence.

PLus, sharing the same surname as one of the greatest driver in the sport doesn't help too :)

And in Italy, no penalty by the stewards. Perhaps a bottle of the Bubbley as a keepsake.

Actually; over a half a second off Massa ?
    What gives ?
    Not the doldrums again !

I think you're right. If he was able to be competitive with Montoya, then I think he fell quite a bit to now be getting smoked by Trulli.

Yes, we brought that over with us as with apostolic succession. Penance is often confused with the similar concept of 'marriage'.
    :)
