The McLaren is prettier and I LOVE the central driving position, but the Veyron is the superior example of automotive engineering. It sits alone atop a new plateau.

With that said, I enjoy reading about the Bugatti and all the technological marvels it possesses. It is the new Daddy. But I'd still rather drive the F1!

im not actually sure which one i like better both are very fast and both are amazingly good looking although id rather drive the f1 because its less refined and more dangerous and it dosnt have all these computers telling the wheels what to do

The F1 does it for me, normally aspirated V12. The Bugatti has more power, but its also massively bigger.

I would definately take the McLaren F1 over the Veyron. The lines are better, it is light weight, has a proper manual transmision and is just a work of art. The Veyron was designed for speed and that is pretty much it IMO.

Mclaren F1 all the way. Nearly 400 horsepower less, over a decade older, is only 10 mph slower at the top, and just barely half a second slower in 0-60 tests ( I know many don't consider this important but it is standard testing these days). Plus it's a hell of a lot better looking, has a manual transmission and well, it's a freaking Mclaren F1.

Oh, it has tons of storage space, you can bring 2 friends along for a great ride and it has only one purpose... to go fast; unlike the Veyron which has all those unnecessary additions (A/C, Radio?) Pffff... please, I don't need those in a sports car. You want A/C, open your windows and push the gas pedal.

I vote F1... I don't care how fast the Veyron is, I think it's ugly (imo, sorry)

Do you mind if I disagree? I'm a great fan of Colin Chapman's famous "light is right" ... and in that regard, the McLaren wins hands down.

Another personal criteria rules out the Veyron ... sound! It sounds like a truck, and it's a damn shame.

I think I'd still rather have a Veyron than a McLaren F1 ... after all, as a road car, I'm sure the Veyron is better (and it should), and if I want something really light and pure, I'll get an F40. There you go. Veyron daily driver, and F40 visceral lightweight sports car. That's the life.

Yeah, the Veyron really is a pig. But the years of aerodynamic development, the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox, the 16 cylinder engine--this Bugatti is a titan. Even the 365mm run-flat Michelins at the rear are something of a wonder. I respect the F1 endlessly, but the Veyron leaves me awe-inspired in every category.

    (except for the noise)

There is no doubt that the Veyron is an amazing feat of engineering but whilst very striking in its appearance it doesnt quite stir the soul as other super cars have.

From the outset the F1 was designed to provide a pure driving experience.
The plan was to produce a sports car with a normally aspirated engine, keeping weight to a minimum and using the latest technology derived from aeronautics and F1.
What Murray and his team achieved was nothing short of awesome, they created a supercar that is iconic.

The Veyron on the otherhand was created simply to oust the F1 from the top of the tables, this was done regardless of cost, size, weight and looks.

To me the Veyron is a very much over weight, over powered Audi TT.

The McLaren is simple, uncluttered and beautifully engineered.
I'll take the McLaren any day and every day

Give it some time ... when the Macca came out, it wasn't revered as an icon. It was the best and latest (just like the Veyron), but not adored at the level it is today. It may just be the same for the big Bug' ... or it disappears like the EB110 did.

agreed. the thing that's stupid with the veyeron is that you have to stop the car and set it to top speed mode if you really want to hit well over 200mph. the mclaren could do everything w/out adjustable suspension and spoilers.

If the Mac could do everything then why were the competition cars so different? Longtail etc. You couldn't build the Mac these days without incorporating all the euro spec regs the Veyron's got without putting the weight way up so it's not really a fair comparison..............

True, I seem to remember it being compared to the F40 and being found lacking in the exact same way we compare the Veyron to the F1.

I'm going to disagree with most (if not all people) and say I would take a Veyron over an F1.

Please, the Veyron is overated thats the kind of car you buy it and put it in glass case and never drive it again also I have yet to see the Veyron "Combat" proven I have yet to see one at lemans. An F1 is something I have much more fun with atleast I wouldn't be afraid to take it to the track, I know not even a Veyron can play with the almighty Mclaren F1 the undisputed champion!.
