Scuderia 0-100 3,6 sec 0-200 11,6 sec max 318 km/h GT2 0-100 3,7 sec 0-200 11,2 sec max 329 km/h figures are from each manufacturers site both are damn impressive.......
Yes, both are impressive and while a big 911 fan having owned a few (two being GT3's), the Scuderia times are the least interesting thing about it. It's about the sound, feel and feedback = the grin factor. On that count, a GT2 is no comparison. The GT3 will very likely also remain the car of choice for Porsche track enthusiasts. Of course, times are good to use when playing Top Trumps on the internet but that's about all.
I don't think any of those numbers do, Tarek. Poor Carrera GT owners - as Evo magazine said it - commenting 0-60 mph times and the launch control: "This is particulary worrying news for you Carrera GT owners that you are probably already imagining targeting in the traffic light Grands Prix" Hahahaha It will probably outgun most by the traffic lights because I know the 996 GT2 did, but... who cares give me the keys to the Scuderia and measure who's got the biggest grin...
Comparing cars on a few statistical claims, by the manufacturers no less, is ridiculous. The difference between a Carrera GT and a GT2 is the difference between Filet Mignon and hamburger meat. One is a supercar built in very limited quantities, with a race bred V10 engine and a Carbon Fiber chassis, with a look like nothing else in the company's offerings and the other is a generic 911 shape on serious steroids which makes it look as ridiculous as a mid pack athlete on serious steroids. To begin to compare the Scuderia with the GT2 is even more asinine. These two cars couldn't be more different in every way imaginable. Italian style and flair versus Teutonic ultra efficiency - they appeal to very different buyers who won't even give the statistics a moment's thought. It never ceases to amaze me that people post these comparative statistics like they mean something. I'd hazard a guess and say that less than one tenth of one percent of Fchat subscribers have ever driven a car at more than 150MPH.
Hahaha you're right sir I know I can't say much (or anything) about either GT2 or CGT but I just find it interesting to see how fast performance cars are pushing the limits for every new generation. Of course, the Carrera GT is in the Enzo, Zonda F and Koenigsegg CCX league where GT2 is still a highly tuned 911 - and of course almost none of the buyers ever will check out the top speed or will get the same Nürnburgring times as Walter Röhrl... Don't get me wrong regarding my post above because the Carrera GT is my ultimate dream car and there are not many cars that I'd pick over it...
Dijon Prenois May 2007 Same Driver (996) GT2 Clubsport Best lap: 1'31.98" CS: Best lap: 1' 31.23" Not a stat A fact Fiorano: Same Driver Scuderia 2 secs quicker than CS Bye bye 997 GT2 with its 1440 (dry) kgs - not a Porsche but a Porker
care to explain why? same price, same power, both rwd, both cars aiming at buyers who want to track the car... so why are Ferrari and Porsche mentioning the statistics at all? Because it IS a powerful and influential marketing instrument, whether you like it or not! I for one would want to be sure that the Scud is a lot faster than the standard F430 if I decided to buy it, and I know i am not the only one. Everytime a magazine tests a sportscar/supercar it spawns a vast amount of debate about the tested performance figures. Why? Also, I know a few guys who base their purchase decision mainly on the statistics... Let's see: Fchat has some 48,000 members (subscribers and nonsubscribers). Less than one tenth of a percent means less than 48 people. Considering the fact that many Fchatters (a few thousand) come from Europe and have at some point in their life surely been to Germany (where you can easily drive 150mph and more if you want), I think your statement is... uh... incorrect. Besides, have a look at this: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134962 OMG! Are you serious? The 2nd biggest market for Ferraris and Porsches is Germany. And those buyers ARE GOING TO DRIVE also at top speed. Also, don't forget all those foreign supercars on the German autobahn during the weekend...
I still did not try 400+km/hr, but I have no issues with 300+km/hr. The picture below is me driving in my SL55. Image Unavailable, Please Login
