I don't think 407 km/h. is possible on any public road except closed airfields or VW Nardo testrack like straight test tracks! I've never been above 270 km/h... Wish I had something that could go even further... That would have been cool :) Nice picture!

Joe, don't get too cranked up. He overstated how many have been to high speeds but it is still a small number.

In the US I have found that most people have not been over 100 and definitely not over 120 MPH. I know a lot of guys who have been over 150 in their F, including myself, but it is a self selected group and doesn't represent the general population.

If you think about 48,000 Fchat members you can bet most don't own exotics or anything capable of 150 in any reasonable manner. Even if they did, it is difficult to get a place to drive that fast in the US. The speed laws, traffic, and law enforcement makes it difficult. Plus, most tracks don't hit those speeds.

Fchat is also a self selected group but there is a large US contingent so the real number may be somewhere between 3% and 10%. It is most likely in the lower end of that range.

Disclaimer - The number of Fchat members was posted here so I use it without checking. The rest is pretty much guessing.

Oh Pulleeeeeze! The reality is that Toyota Prius and all the other green hybrids and their ilk will rule (and clog) the streets while high performance exotics will be forced to follow their snail trails and breathe their cabbage exhaust fumes

pete , lets get both cars weighed on the same scales , and not worry about the manufactures figures . the 996 GT2 is harder to drive fast on the track compared to the CS . did they have the same tyres ? power delivery as you are aware is completely different between the two .

back from Monte Carlo. My friend, 'David', has a Veyron (fantastic black/charcoal combo) that he let me drive. Hit 390 kph (!), about 235 mph.....frightening. I did about 200 a few times in my F40 when I owned it....but believe me, 235 seems MUCH faster than 200. The most amazing thing about the car is it was still accelerating when I backed off the throttle.... I passed a 599 when I was doing about 190 (he was doing about 130ish..). Felt like he was standing still. He pulled into the same gas station about 10 miles later to look at the car....went away shaking his head! Overall, the most impressive automobile that I have ever experienced. I can't imagine that there will ever be anything like it again. If you can...buy one.

Both the GT2 and Scuderia are amazing cars....there is no right answer...who is their right mind wouldn't find enjoyment with either one.

Both epitomize a different approach to car building...one typical teutonic efficiency/go fast/engineered to perfection...the other typifies an approach that involves all the senses, evokes emotion, and gives a wonderful experience each trip.

Each one appeals to a different side of a personality....therefore is there really an absolute answer as to which is better ? methinks not.

So? And on an even harder and more scary/technical track such as the Nurburgring the 996 GT2 o street tires did a 7:42, the Challenge Stradale? 7:56-58, M3 CSl comp! I still want one badly though!
