following any car accidents (regardless of injury), falls (with broken bones etc..), etc its mandatory to bring someone to the hospital. Recently at my school someone tried to jump a fence and fell and fractured both the ulna and radius in their arm, i was the the only semi-qualified person on scene, im a premed nursing major, so i took care of him etc...but when the EMT's responded to the scene they put him on a backboard. So what I'm trying to say is following a car accident it is mandatory at least here in massachusetts to restrain someone on a backboard and to take them to the hospital for fear of unknown spinal cord injuries.

That accident happened about 2 months ago (maybe a little less) in Etobicoke Ontario about 1.5 miles from my parents house. I do not know the exact details but from my understanding the driver was not the car owner. It did make the local newspaper cover as nothing else really ever happens here.

This is a strange law...as a physician who does trauma surgery, we have no such law in maryland, virginia or washington d.c....people are only put on back boards when neck or spine or head trauma is suspected based on evidence at the scene....if the person says he is ok and shows no signs of trauma, then he is free to do as he pleases..........
