I used to have a Lotus 111R in the Netherlands, but I moved and do not have any B-roads around. Just highways. As a daily driver in the rain in Holland the 111 is not great. The S2000 has a fast convertible roof (5 seconds). The Lotus would take 2 minutes and you had to get out of the car. With the top on the lotus would leak on the sill and you would bet a wet butt getting out of the car. The S2000 is a nice car, but not very exciting after a while.

The new F430 will be red/black. My first red Ferrari.

    Kenny,

How about that. They made me an offer I could not refuse. The car is right now at Manhattan Motorcars getting refurbished. I hope to have it back in two weeks when I'm back from Europe.

    Thanks for answering. :)

Good to know. I remember my friend sent me pictures of one while he was at Le Mans a few years ago. He said the car is something that has to be seen in person, along with the interior. I love the shifter.

Yeah, the rain is a big problem here in europe. My uncle has a Elise but only for the Nurburgring, his other convertible for the daily things is a SLK.
Nice choice to take a red one. Can`t wait to see some pics. And yet I wish you a nice day. And thanks for all the answers.

    Ryan,

I did notice a throttle response lag and I asked them to calibrate it. We'll see if it will get better.

The steering wheel is now standard with the airbag, but I prefer the propellor wheel and ordered one, as well as 4-point seatbelts.

The machined aluminium is not reflective.

I had a mazda 6 with a 5 speed and fly by wire throttle. Throttle response, I found, was horrible. I had the dealer re-flash it and it improved substantially, but was not fully eliminated. I also have a 2007 Mustang GT with fly by wire throttle. They program the throttle to ignore certain sudden responses in an effort to improve fuel economy. So when I go to down shift and I blip the throttle, nothing happens. In order to get the engine to do what I want, I have to mash the throttle all the way down to the floor for what seems like more than a second before the throttle responds. I really wish that they would stop "programming" these things to ignore what the driver is telling it to do.

Eventually, we'll have fly by wire cars, the only input the driver makes is punch in the coordinates/address of where he/she is going, and a microprocessor will do the rest.

    BORING!!!!

I am just curious, what does a two year old Spyker with 15K miles go for? 15K on those is unheard of but that is not a bad thing. Glad to hear it was driven!!! They are really starting to grow on me.

I agree totally. The throttle response on my old WRX was great - nice and linear, although the turbo lag was the odd variable out. I liked having a straightforward cable throttle that did what I told it.
