I have nothing against Hamilton or Alonso for that matter. They're both incredibly talented and really great drivers. To respond to Parker's comment about who wouldn't want Alonso: Why would a team want someone that turned his own team in and complains about every decision that doesn't go his way? Not that he's not a good driver, he is, but why would a team want someone that is so negative all the time? He's going somewhere I don't think there's a doubt about that, but I really can't imagine anyone at the Scuderia thinking he's going to be a fit on that team.

Still with this? The documents were not "dropped in their lap"; they were accepted. And Alonso isn't a "whistle blowing hero," he is a blackmailing cheat that held onto the information for months before threatening Dennis with them to secure #1 driver status within Woking. If Fernando is such a righteous sportsman, why didn't he contact the FIA immediately? Answer me that.

I can think of at least a dozen World Champions who could be accurately described as such and who had no problem finding a race seat with a competitive team whenever they wished. Nigel Mansell anyone?

Hiring Alonso is not that different from hiring Stepney.

He only had a whistle to blow on a mess - because he was a part of the mess.

F1 is a game where 10ths of a second make the difference between P1 and P6, so any engineering development into tires functionality, vehicle balance, aerodynamics, et al, can make a difference on the track and can effect the outcome of a race.

But how do we know Alonso wasn't betrayed by RD, and that is why he played his hand so strongly. Could RD have said NS was coming to work for McBull**** soon and it was OK for this stuff to happen??? RD could have made a lot of promises to Alonso before Hamiliton hit it out of the park. Who knew that guy was going to be so good stright out of the box (I watched GP2 and he won a lot, but doesn't that really mean he can drive in the middle of the pack of F1 without wrecking everything)

It is clear that the upper management lied about who knew what when, and this stuff flows downhill. Does anyone really believe that only 5 or 6 people knew about the Ferrari info, hell, it must have been more like 40 or 50. I think Alonso is a jerk most of the time, but he is a talented driver, ask M.S. He may have had a great reason to screw with RD. We will know much more about his motives over the next six months as more and more info comes out.

Alonso (not Alonzo) is a ****** bag, he turned his own team in, he is a snitch, nobody likes him, Ferrari doesn't want him, he's overrated, he *itchs and whines about everything, he called F1 not a sport, he's mad when he second place, he tried to get his teammate kicked off the team, some of his fan club don't like him, and quite frankly I dont think they need lawyers to end this contract, McLaren/Ron Dennis would seem to more than obliged to end it now and keep the better driver on the team.
BTW If I ever saw the man, I would contemplate punching him in the face, that is how much I detest him and his type.

That's a very logical explanation. Either Alonso is lower than dirt or RD knew.

You are really good. I should have hired you as my PI attorney following my accident. Seriously.

It takes two to tango. Yes, a Ferrari employee sought to give up Scuderia secrets, but a McLaren employee followed by quite a few other McLaren employees took the info, used the info, and have kept using the info if not FOR THE REAL WHISTLE BLOWER: a copy center employee in England, not that POS Alonso.

Dropped in their lap, my rectum! Read Coughlin's apology statement, he admitted his "engineering curiosity" got the best of him. So to be completely honest, the criminal activity only became criminal when a McLaren employee completed the act. He didn't have to take the dossier, BUT HE DID. They didn't have to read or use the info, but they did. That is you real criminal activity.

Alonso admitted only after being given amnesty that HE USED THE INFORMATION ILLEGALLY OBTAINED. Alonso effectively ratted on his own team so he could "legally" break his contract with McLaren. Alonso could have blown the whistle when he first learned of the Ferrari dossier back in March, but he didn't. Why? Because Fred Alonso is the most hypocritical lying slimebag to have ever had the WDC title. He makes Schumacher look like an angel in comparison.

Alonso's bid for the 2007 WDC is a travesty. If Alonso ever drove for Ferrari, myself and quite a few others would give up F1 and Ferrari for a long time.

    Wait a minute, Ron.

How many times did you lecture me that being a true Tifosi means supporting the team no matter who the drivers are when I was calling for Massa's ouster?

Supporting existing drivers on a team during a season is one thing, even during a dismal season, assuming they are trying despite their equipment. But hiring a driver with the character of Alonso just to win is an entirely different matter. Neither Massa or Raikkonen have demonstrated such low behavior towards each other or to their own team as has Alonso with Hamilton an McLaren.

Ted, its a simple call actually. My best friend, a native Italian, Senna's friend, and a true tifosi has told me the same thing. Italians immensely disliked Alonso before Sept 13, now they like him even less. Luca wants to be president, he would be excommunicated if Alonso was hired. Even my McLaren loving friends are hoping Alonso leaves for another team in 2008.

For me, I would have no reservation dropping F1, FerrariChat, and the Scuderia if Alonso was hired.

Bring Back Ross Brawn. Pay him what he deserves and make him team principal ,and if Fernando's agent calls Ferrari the answer should be thanks but no thanks.

The worse part in this soap opera is that now everyone hates everyone else involved yet Alonso is still at McLaren, gets to race and keep his points and Denis has to give him full support or FIA will retaliate further. Very weird politics.

I wonder how much cash he'll have to give up to move. Renault would be crazy to offer him big money. What's he going to do if they don't meet his price? Stay at McLaren?? LOL
