Kimi and Massa are the Ferrari drivers. Period. They are both excellent and will continue to win many races in the future. Hamilton and Alonso are also very good.....which makes the F1 racing sundays fun to watch. The Yankees bought all the best baseball players for years...and baseball became boring for many who were not yankee fans. Let's stick by Kimi and Felipe. Forza.

Exactly. Rosberg is THE BEST replacement for Massa. He's part of the top 4. But Massa is a better teammate for Kimi and he's done much better than anyone could have predicted. One more year for Phil and then nab the Finn for 09. I mean German. The FINGER .... WHATEVER...

Ted, I don't see how anyone can make intelligent driver assessments until we see each driver in question in the same car. That ain't gonna happen.

The most incredible assessment is for anyone to think at this time Hamilton will be another Schumacher, or even a Senna. Personally I don't see it, but in another season or two, maybe. So possibly Heidfeld in a McLaren might be faster than Alonso or Hamilton, who knows. You be be a fool to think you know, "you" being a general pronoun.

The car is a least 60% of the end result. For now, I am still good with Kimi and Phil in a second rate car. They are still better than Alonso and Hamilton.

Please Andreas, I have been heavily drugged the last two months, can you be more specific. What specific mistakes did Massa make verses the mistakes the Ferrari team made that cost Massa? What I remember is the team made most of these mistakes if not all. Don't even dare to bring up Massa's attempt to pass Hamilton early in the season, even Alonso lost it 2-3 times trying to make an unsuccessful pass one event. Hamilton failed to pass Alonso in Belgium. I do not recall Kimi passing anyone. I do remember Sato passing Alonso. I give Massa credit for trying. Can't say that about most of the other drivers.

Once again, Massa set fastest race lap last weekend.

    Sepang: Drove off the track
Canada: Didn't stop at the red light
Silverstone: Killed the engine on the grid
Nuerburgring: Gave away the victory in the rain
Hungary: Screwed up his qualifying lap

Compare that to rookie Hamilton who so far made one crucial mistake (Nuerburgring).

Oh, I don't know...points maybe? Finishing positions maybe? Qualifying positions maybe?

Heidfeld has blown Kubicka's doors off this season. Their relative performances are not even close. In 13 races this season, Kubicka has finished higher than Heidfeld 4 times, one of those was because of a Heidfeld DNF. Heidfeld has 56 points to Kubicka's 33. I don't even want to bring up Heidfeld's speed in qualifying.

If Kubicka is faring so poorly relative to a winner without a GP win to his name, how on Earth could you possibly...remotely even...think he would be as competitive with the reigning 2-time WDC as Hamilton has been? This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Maybe all Ide needed was to drive the Renault last year and he could have been WDC?

Yes, Heidfeld would be competitive in a McLaren, I am a big fan of his. However even I seriously doubt he would have the measure of Alonso. If Heidfeld was as strong a talent as Hamilton, he would not have been languishing in second-rate cars his entire career. Look at how long it took for Alonso or Kimi to go from backmarkers to frontline teams. Talent rises to the top in this business and it does so very quickly.

Hamilton has been competitive against (arguably) the best driver on the F1 grid today. To think that any other driver is caable of doing what Hamilton is fdoing is nonsense. Folks here are taking guys like Kubicka who can't even beat their own teammates and stating that Kubicka could outperform guys who are racing and winning against the best in the sport in equal machinery. Would you really argue that Jensen Button was better than Schumacher but didn't appear so in the points only becuase he wasn't driving a Ferrari? Of course not. You don't have to be in an equal car to prove you are better than another driver. It is all in the performance relative to your teammate. If you are beating the best in equal machinery, what is there left to say?

    Andreas:

In 3 seasons time, we will all look back and laugh at how ridiculous it was that we were seriously debating that Massa is better than Hamilton. That would be like debating Schumacher vs. De Cesaris from their 1991 seasons...

I want Hamilton at Ferrari. He is a young so I expect him to say a few things that are silly, but look at Alonso...all he does is piss everyone off even his own team.
I don't hear anyone at McLaren saying they don't like Hamilton.
I think Hamilton at Ferrari would be the best choice Ferrari has made since Schumacher.
