Looks like a yellow 360 with CS wheels. Looks pretty scary, I believe one died from the accident as the car went up in flames. The car looks so burnt on tv. Anyone know more?

It is most likely just one of them sunday morning spirited drives. Though the media always says 'illegal racing'. I don't think Ferrari's in HK 'illegally race'. Illegal races in HK are left to Honda Type R's and Subaru WRX's.

Yes, he was a fairly regular Sunday morning driver, and an active participant in track days. It was a 360 Modena but with a CS conversion (bodykit/wheels).

May he RIP... and my prayers are with the family...

Today's wet weather can be real dangerous for speeding on public roads.
Very scary indeed and RIP to driver.

    May he RIP..........

It was on San Tin Highway near San Tin Interchange exit to Yuen Long direction, a dangerous right turn corner to Yuen Long side with rough road surface.

I drove oppsite direction to Luk Geng at around 8am and only saw lots of police car and media's car, Luk Geng was quiet and calm this morning, hadn't hear anyone talk about the accident.

I was driving to Fairview Park, Yuen Long this morning with my wife. At approx. 6:45am the Ferrari that is all over the news today blew past me at an extreme high rate of speed. The posted speed limit is 100km/h on that section of the highway. I was driving close to 130 - 140km/h when that yellow Ferrari blew past me like I was standing still. I would estimate he was going anywhere close to 200 - 220 km/h. Less than 5 minutes later he crashed. He wasn't the only that blew past me this morning. They were a group of around 10 cars. There was also a yellow F430 that was leading the pack... not sure if it was a Challenge coz he flew right by me... all I caught was a black stripe on the hood. Other cars included a couple of 996 Turbo's, a white 996 GT3RS, an orange 997GT3RS with a T-Plate, a couple of Audi RS6's, a black Gallardo and a few other 360's. May the driver RIP and stay safe guys.

This is sad news. Though I'm no HKer, we are motorheads & we do that kind of speed as well so this is a reminder. May he RIP.

Thanks for the map & news clip.

so i guess, he must be pretty experienced on those speeds, and Banduga mentioned that he seen him on track days.
Hmm.. well.. feel really sad for his family members.

    RIP

no problem dude... based on what I saw prior to the crash... it was a combination of a few things... driver error, over confidence, bad judgement, bad luck, car had been in a bad wreck before and might not drive the same as a clean 360, road conditions and inexperience.

Not to mention the very bad design of the roadside police observation "stations", which served as a launch ramp for this poor guy. As I understand it, the existing road barriers are designed to absorb impact, and let the car slide down the road "safely". Just extremely unfortunate that it happened where it happened.

Having said that, those kinds of speeds aren't really suitable for public roads. Didn't know him well, but really feel for the family that he left behind. Front page news in the Chinese newspapers today.

I agree with what you have to say. According to Apple Daily (local paper), the victim and the other group of cars were stopped at a police road block 5 minutes prior to the accident. The location where the 360 crashed and where the road block was set up was 20 kms apart. With that being said it means they averaged at speeds around 240 km/h.
