GT5:p will be available for free download on Sony's Playstation online service later this year. Score! I'll probably finally break down and pick up a PS3 this holiday season.

On the latest interview with the series creator, there was mention of 2 different play modes. I forget what they're called, but one will be your traditional Gran Turismo mode that's more along the lines of what GT4 offered in terms of physics and handling. Then there's the Professional mode which will focus even more on real world/car physics. Probably more for the very hardcore car/GT crowd. Perhaps more along what GT:HD plays like?

GT:HD seemed to have less back end grip and it was easier to keep oversteer in check with throttle/steering inputs. In GT4 it always felt like there was a certain point, that if you passed, you couldn't get the car back.

Here are three reasons to get a PS3 for X-mas 07:

    - DIRT, way better than on the XBox as they fixed frame rate issues and FFB
    - GT5 Prologue
    - Ferrari Challenge

And hopefully we'll also soon get a new F1 game.

    actually, I disagree:
    - DIRT: the Xbox360 is better because you can get real rumble and force feedback, best experienced with the XBox 360 wireless wheel
    - GT5 Prologue: this is just a downloadable demo, the real game won't be out till 2008
    - Ferrari Challenge: This actually looks good, but won't be out in the US till 2008. (Nov 2007 release for Europe)

So, if you really want a PS3 for Xmas, you may as well get it now.
    - DIRT is already out on both PS3 and Xbox
    - GT5 demo is already out, so it should tide you over till the Prologue and the full version comes out

I actually got the F1 2006 game over the weekend, and I started playing the career mode. I got hired by STR (not STR-Ferrari, mind you... but STR-Cosworth, because it's 2006!)

Everything feels outdated since everything changed in 2007!

I highly doubt that F1 2007 will even be released.. what if you drive with the McLaren cars... will your manufacturer points be denied at the end of the season??? :D

Are you saying DIRT on PS3 won't have FFB?

GT5 Prologoue is AFAIK not the same as the HD Concept demo that is already out. It has more tracks and cars.

I had F1 2006 since it came out, but can't play it because it has no FFB. I have absolutely no idea what the car is doing.

I spoke too soon.. they are going to make some new game with Hamilton in it..!

Hamilton set for the video game world
    =============================

    --------------------------------------------------
Lewis Hamilton has signed a (US) $10m exclusive licensing deal to feature in his own videogame in the near future.

After a debut Formula One season in which he regularly spoke about learning circuits and attempting to develop his relationship with Fernando Alonso with the help of a PlayStation, the 2007 championship runner-up and rookie's deal is reportedly with American developer Electronic Arts and its EA Sports brand.

The British newspaper The Sun speculates that releases of the first Hamilton game will be on the 'Xbox and PlayStation' consoles.

F1's exclusive video gaming rights, however, currently belong to Sony Computer Entertainment, leading to speculation about what form the upcoming Hamilton game will take. It is also suggested that the F1 rights could move from Sony to EA.

British newspapers also reveal that the 22-year-old will give his first major television interview next week on veteran host Michael Parkinson's show."

    Very interesting.

Sony pretty much killed off the F1 racing games once they got exclusive rights: First they stopped selling it in the US, yet at the same time protected their Euro version with country codes (Morons!). Then their latest version for PS3 is a bad joke having no FFB whatsoever.

So any movement in this area is very welcome. Couldn't care less whether this will be called the "Lewis Hamilton F1 Racing" game or not, as long as we get an updated version of the game WITH FFB. Don't even care for what console. Just give us something better than the current F1 for PS3.

Since you mention that: Last night I played DiRT on PS3 and Forza 2 on XBox360 back to back. The FFB from the XBox360 wheel has a lot more information than the FFB from the PS3 Logitech wheel, but it is also a lot more faint. You have to play it for a while to make your hands "listen" again. DiRT's feedback isn't as defined, but a lot stronger. It's a bit like comparing Johnny Rotten with Andrea Bocelli. :)
