Good post here......Chase- read it over , and OVER. the first part. I was in a LTR as well, and marriage came to mind...I was told by close SINGLE friends the same thing, "if you really wanted to marry her, you would make it happen" none of this, think about this, a little later, think about that and so on....when you do know, there is none of this nonsense....

and yes I am anti-marriage, well at least for now and in no rush AT ALL.

We would elope tomorrow if we could. We are waiting for her to finish school per her parents wishes. The wedding will be right after her graduation, and I'll "officially" propose ~6 months before that. I am not on the fence about anything, she is the one, and she feels the same. :)

I agree with whomever said they're not for anyone over 15...I think I got one when I was 14 or 15 haha.. Being in a relationship promises fidelity to someone else already. Why do you need a ring? If you're going to get married then get her an engagement ring, case closed.

I'd love to know any upsides to marriage. Last time we did the math it would cost in the neighborhood of $1200/yr in extra income taxes for me & my other half. $1200 is much more fun to spend on vacations...

That said - we DO wear rings... at least now and again. Solid platinum & plain bands - so they don't scratch like gold, and are worth a whole lot more for just the metal :)
