Goes to show, different strokes, etc. Anyone interested enough really must make every effort to drive both cars, it will soon become clear what you prefer.

    Yin,

curious, was the 430 a 6speed or F1? If the CS was a 6 speed manual and I had one, I would keep it forever. The F1 especially in 1st left a lot to be desired.

I've had them both, tracked them both quite extensively and the CS is still in my garage.
The idea that the 430 is a wonderful daily driver versus the raw CS is a real stretch. The 430 is a still a mid engined V8 sports car with all of the attendant issues that arise in that formula - less than optimum torque for driving in urban environments, no trunk to speak off, difficult ingress and egress (compared to a regular car), paparazzi factor where morons with cell phone cameras drive right next to you, an inch away to take a photo while moving etc etc. In all not very different in concept to the CS. The CS however feels lighter, nimbler, more agile and is definitely more fun (not necessarily faster or slower) on a track. It feels like a sports car should - a little edgy and very quick. The CS is the hands down winner in this comparo for me.
If you're talking Ferrari daily driver, luxury, performance, wow factor - you really must have a 599 - now there is a real car that does everything well!

Sezme help me out which did you choose? I am thinking the same way right now. I'm a little different I own mostly race cars and might not mind the 430 over the CS but will probably hate myself for not adding a CS to my garage

Here is my situation. I wanted a Ferrari that would do the Track evnets in the weekend for me - I am based in europe and the Nürnburgring and other tracks are my playground - The cs is more harsh / racy - and fells lighter as well / brakes better - I drive a range rover sport for a daily driver - so i dident bother about every day comfort - i have tried the 430 as well - and to me it sems a bit more "put together". Its not that harsh - And as we say over here "feels a bit more for the american market".

I bought the cs - with lexan slide windows - rollbar - 4 point harness.. But if i should have use it for a every day car i would have chossen the F430 - then again i have never owned a F430..

So i belive in - ask your self - what you want / need - to do with your car -and the purpouse of it.. And then decide..

    Good luck

the CS lacked torque for me . you would have to ring it's neck all the time , and people would here you before they saw you . this grates sometimes. nothing like zipping in and out of traffic at high speed without everyone noticing . perfect weapon for this = GT2

I agree with Alex's observation about the CS and 430 really being in the same class, with relatively minor differences, as far as being daily drivers. In the same vein, I'd think that the exhaust note audibility between a CS and 430 are also relatively minor - they're both going to get you heard before being seen.

I do agree with you about a Porsche Turbo/GT2 if you want daily driveability with torque. I don't seem to miss the torque as much, as I like winding cars up, so a Porsche GT3/RS works for me in that class too.

At that event, I drove both F1 and 6-speed cars, but the 6-speed was only on the skidpad, so the experience was more limited. However, I've driven a 6-speed 430 spider up and down Hwy 9 also (BTW, my comment about being less interested in a 430 applied specifically to a 430 coupe because I didn't find the experience that different; I'm still wanting a 430 spider because I think it would be a different experience while being in a similar class).

The CS and 430 F1 implementations seem similar to me and I'm not religious about 6-speeds; I figure I've got other cars that are manual transmission if I want that. As far as F1 in first gear, I haven't found that a problem except in stop and go traffic at less than 5 mph and I just avoid that; it's not the car's forte or purpose.

on a side note, does anybody have a 430 with Corsa Systems on it and have tracked it? I would like to hear impressions and possibly track times if we have those data points. We will all probably agree that tires will make a BIG difference.

No decisions yet....Like I said - I have a CS at my main residence, and am either going to buy a second, or a 430 for my vacation home.

You know guys the way I see it is that we need to be realistic. The Ferrari(either 430 or CS) is not a daily driver-and I think this probably goes for 90% of people who own a Fcar. Most people who own Fcars have or prefer other cars for the daily grind-and god knows there are plenty of good daily drives out there. So the Fcar is taken out whenever you want an event or whenever you want to be astonished, so with this is mind( and numbers dont count here in terms which is faster, better through turns or whatever)there is no comparison between the 430 and CS. The CS will ALWAYS win as an event compared to a 430. So why should I buy a 430, I am keeping the CS as it plays that role better. Of course the 430S is another matter!

    Well said!

Totally agree - The Ferrari is not a daily driver!!! even they are trying hard to. Some might think its too risky to drive his on weekday trafic condition. Some might concern much on its cost of maintenance. Some doesn't to have more stress on the working days.

To be realistic, Ferrari is better a weekend toy, IMHO.

Your statement was made without consideration as to why someone is driving a Ferrari. Mainly track..a CS would make more sense. However, if it is mainly for street driving, and also for some road trips, logic dictates that the F430 is the car to get. I don't think, to most people that a main consideration is how many F430's vs Cs's there are on the street, and which one is more exotic. The F430 F1 offers the best of all worlds. Finally, I would never compare an F430 to a Bentley. (and, an F430 does NOT have cup holders!)

F430 is to a 360 Modena what a 288GTO is to a 308GTB. For me the F430 is the best and most exotic looking when compared to the 360 and C.Stradale included.

That´s a very personal opinion I guess. I´m looking at a fantastic CS atm because I think the 430 looks "ok" and not more. CS is one of the most beautiful modern Ferraris ever designed, and it also sounds 10 times better then the 430.

To compare a 430 with a 288 and 360 with a 308 is ridiculous. I would prefer the Scuderia though, but can´t get that in Sweden.

10 times better? Come on. The 430 is one of the best sounding cars in the world. How can a cs sound 10x better. The cs is a great car, but some of you guys are nuts the way you put down the 430 to describe how much you prefer the cs. You would think you were describing a Cadillac, its soft, its a boat, luxurious. The 430 looks better imo. Sounds as good if not better and is faster.
When you wind out a 430 the power and acceleration is sick. The cs is a bit more raw in its ride and handling. I little more old school, awsome car, but the 430 is the best all around sports car in the world!

I don't mean it in a ridiculous way, I meant that the 360 is like a 308 in looks, a beautiful clean design and the F430 is a 360 on steroids looking. I too fancy to have a CS, but only F1 no manual kinds of kills it for me.
