355 Check Engine Problem Solved Thanks to Ernie

    Finally got the time to pull the codes off my 95 355. I had been complaining to Ferrari of Central New Jersey since I got the car 3 years ago. They said no codes were coming up. They did a major service on it and check engine 1-4 was still coming up after a long drive. Heavy accelerating and decelerating shut the light off until I drove at a constant speed. Thanks to Ernie I pulled the codes today and got the following:
    Bank 1-4
    1211 Lambda regulation Additive value for self adaptation
    1114 Lambda sensor
    4131 Compressor connection signal

    Bank 5-8
    4131 Compressor connection signal

    Guess it's the O2 sensor on the 1-4 bank. Don't understand Additive value? Is it advisable to change both O2 sensors since they were put in together a number of years ago or just replace as needed? I'm not sure if the compressor connection signal is important or not. Check engine 5-8 has never come up.
    Ernie, thank you again. It really is quite simple pulling codes on a 95 or earlier. I cleared the codes on both sides. I guess I can check to see if the O2 sensor on bank 1-4 comes up again, but I really think that this 3 year old problem should be addressed correctly. Mike

    You can just change the one bad O2 sensor, but after 12+ years, I would go ahead and change them both, as the other will probably go soon as well. Report back on you fix.

    Had both O2 sensors replaced in my 99 F1 355 in Houston, TX about 2 years ago. Then, shipped car to South Florida, drove there for a year.
    Now driving in high altitude situations around Vail, Colorado (between 7,000 to 9,000 ft) and check engine indicator is on again. Getting used to
    loss of around 20% in power so engine revvs higher than normal (at sea level altitudes).

    Anything to do with low level of O2 here, or have the sensor(s) gone bad again.

    I'm glad I was able to help. Best part is it was FREE! :D
    Replace as needed.
    Means it isn't getting the right signal to calculate the proper fuel mixture. It could be because of the O2 sensor/s. But it can also be anything related to the control of the emissions. Again I'm guessing it's because of the O2 sensors.

    If my memory serves me correct it's for the smog pump.

    Try having the car relearn the warm up parameters. After the car has sat all night, disconnect the battery for a few seconds then reconnect it. Now start the engine and let it idle until the cooling fans kick on then off, and DO NOT touch anything, just let it sit and idle. Then go take it for a 30 minute drive after the radiator fans shut off. You need to do this when the engine is stone cold so the ecu/s can relearn everything.

    Thanks Earnie. Will try it out.
    Wish my Ferrari service manager was as knowledgeable as you are.
    Only comment made was about loss of power while driving in higher altitudes.
    No other suggestions were made.
