Here's one that I have. Scott, did I get this from you? I know I have one of your Enzo's. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The rear vents above the taillights have been carefully masked off and sprayed black Image Unavailable, Please Login
Then all the black has been polished. That is where you are going to spend most of the time on any model by the way. Black paint is considered by many the most difficult color to paint simply because it shows every imperfection( however I would rate yellow as the most pain in the arse). It is said that the quality of a paint job is mesured by how far can you see in the mirror image on the paint. This is the only way I can show you this on a picture. Sorry it is the best I could think of. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The piping has too much "shine" to it. I would use a non-coated colored wire if i were you, so it won't be as visible on your seats.
It is not even the correct color. It would be adjusted later on and as said earlier needs some touch up with black. Then the whole thing gets sprayed satin finish, but we did not get there yet. This was done just to show people how to make the piping. I've always said that the main joy of the hobby is to learn from others experience and of course to try to pass on what you have already learned. Otherwise our lovely hobby of model building would simply die.
Sorry, I saw the seats installed in the interior tub, I thought it was all done. By all means, proceed with the final touches, looks great otherwise.
.......And then gloss and clear cote. Then installed into the doors, the door panels (already painted) installed onto the outer shells and the complete doors put on the model. At this time the taillights were installed too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
At this point there are only two areas to be addressed. The interior needs to be finished, which means some touch ups and equalizing the finishes. The other thing is finishing the engine cover- installing the "glass".
1/18 Diablo 6.0 VT 1/18 Strosek Diablo Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cool! Last time I was in Switzerland I saw a real Strossek one like the models, but it was black. Nobody paid any attention to it, just sitting on the parking lot, but everyone was impressed that my uncle was driving a Corvette. They are weired over there.
So next is whatever is left in the interior. Lets start with the dash. firs you spray the color you like over the area you like. Remember always lighter color on top of darker(you need base though-I use white primer). Then you mask the area you like in that color and spray the rest black(in this case). I like using Bare Metal Foil, which you should find in any good hobby shop. It is very thin, never lifts, conforms to any surface and it stays there and it is extremely easy to cut with exacto blade once it hase been laid down. Image Unavailable, Please Login
After you spray the black just peel off the foil and if necessary touch up where needed . Also at this point I painted the instrument surrounds Image Unavailable, Please Login
...then some more detailing is done to the dash. The whole unit has been sprayed with Dull Cote to give it the flat "leather" feel. The instruments in the center console and the vents have been picked out with semigloss black. The whole interior tube has been made flat black and the seats received same treatment as the as the dash. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The interior tub needs some touch ups around the center console and this together with the seatbelts, shifter and shifter gate being detailed is done at this time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Everything is then test fitted and eventually some adjustments are made Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't know if you have noticed but the front "lips" on the body work are not yet painted. Because of their complex curves it is really hard to mask. We'll deal with this and the finishing of the engine cover next time.
lucky you are incredible, here is a simple diablo sv i did this weekend, i just stripped the paint and then painted the lower body parts black, i am going to try and really polish it to a mirror finish this weekend, sorry the pics arent the best Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
