I was informed today by my dealer that, like the F50, there will be a mandatory lease program for the 430 Scuderia. No word, according to my dealer, on pricing or specific terms. Anyone hear the same thing?

So you lease and if you want to get out , you resell to your dealer at MSRP . But he will then be able to sell at market price ?

    msrp?????

    market price i.e. PREMIUM????

If you are being forced to take out a least agreement im guessing it's going to be 0% interest free money. As why should i have to pay interest on money if i am able to buy the car outright and dont want a 36month payment plan.
I dont think this is really going to happen imo.

    It wouldn't surprise me!
What were the specifics on the F-50 program?

Ferrari is embarking on a leasing program of their own and dealers are "encouraging" customers to use the Ferrari program. It applies to all Ferrari's.

I have always wondered why Ferrari allowed other leasing companies to make the profit leasing Ferrari's.

...rumor was that dealers would start their own leasing companies and circumvent allottment limits.

I think that the F50 was $240,000 down then $5,600 per month for 24 months with a residual of $150,000, then you had to come up with lux tax, destination and gas guzzler tax (totaled about an additional $45K) then state sales taxes which of course varried state to state. I am about 90% sure on these numbers.

Didn't they do this with Enzo's, possibly in Europe? F are really starting to push the envelope IMO. It seems as if they are trying to reach a breaking point.

Hope you are correct but that's not what my dealer said. It is a mandatory lease specifically for the 430 Scuderia, according to the dealer.

Two dealers making opposite statments. I hope your dealer is right.

That just seems wrong to me. If someone would rather buy the car outright, they shouldn't be bound to a contract.

    hello,

it has become known that the reason Ferrari leased the F50 is due to the financial hit dealers took on F40's when the market crashed in march of 1990. speculators that were last to buy got refunded anything the dealer charged "above m.s.r.p." due to favorable consumer "lemon laws" here in the united states.

someone that paid 100% over msrp @ a ferari dealer got a full refund if the motorized seatbelts or hand break cable linkage went out of wack more than two times. so the dealer who profited immensly in the feeding frenzy market of the late 80's had to pony up [no pun intended] refunds to the speculators who could no longer "flip" these cars

not sure if ferari is hedging it's bets on the softening of their current market conditions. as what goes up...

    just my $0.02 :)

    Exactly.

I dont mind leasing the car if it aint gonna cost me any extra money(interest)

It would be ideal paying monthly payments and having a lump sum to invest in soemthing else. And not havin to pay interest.

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr great

Not what my dealer says. Ferrari will be a lien holder on the 430 Scuderia and owners will need to sign first right of refusals as well. This all done in an effort to stop flipping of the car. Ferrari will have theri own lease you can go thru but will be a lien holder either way, buy out right or lease.

Anything that dissuades speculators from buying these cars, helps put the cars in *enthusiasts* hands, and that is GOOD NEWS!!!!!!

Probably won't happen. Ferrari wanted this to take affect Jan 1, 08. Ferrari sent a letter to all dealers to have their lawyers see if this is legal or not. I know that some dealers have already responded and said it is not legal for Ferrari to be the lien holder. I believe Ferrari will have to abandon this idea.

I was told something like that too. What my understanding was is that anyone one who purchases the car for cash or uses any outside financing will asked to have a lien on the car. Anyone who uses Ferrari financing will not have a lien. No idea about the first right of refusal but imo that would prob apply to everyone

So what this amounts to is F using their customer's money or F's leasing(because it's a Ferrari and they just have to have a 430S ;) ) and ensuring that the only one making a profit off the car is them. Other then the distinct privilege of owning a 430S, this sound pretty one sided to me. I'm sure there are plenty that will go for this but I'm of the belief that if I pay for something I want to own it and do as I wish. It sounds like they may just be trying to get away with this in the US.

It never ceases to amaze me that people are willing to put up with endless s--t from Ferrari and it's network. This is even more amazing when the people buying the cars are not, for the most part, ignorant nor economically unsuccessful or naive. Why should we be asked to bend over and take it. Yes, Ferraris are "special" but in today's world there are alternatives. Try to separate ego from reality.

430S will be like any other Fcar. Pay for it and it is yours. F is pushing a finance arm which will target all buyers who finance like any other car manufacturer. Flip a 430S and you will be blackballed by the dealer under pressure from the regional F office. No different from any other hot new model
