This LMB model was staying at the Blackhawk collection last year. It could'n't be one of the original LMB's, and I suspect it to be a 250 Lusso conversion. It was also pictured in the 1982 book "Ferrari - The Sports/Racing and Road Cars" by the editors of consumer guide. Does anyone have a guess as to which S/N this might be?

In 1967 there was one of these for sale at the Vintage Car Store in NY.
Asking $8,000. That was a lot of money back then...

In 1969, there was a P-51D Mustang for sale at our local airport for $9000. And it was in excellent shape. Ready to fly. A P-51 is probably worth about $2 million today?

    Beautiful car.

I've always wondered about the rear fender air ducts on these cars. Does anyone know what they are ventilating or is it a laminar flow device?

    Many thanks
    Russ

Arlie - I'd never thought I would see a $40K Piper J3 Cub. Most any classic airplane is a wonderful thing.

Russ, they're not air ducts at all, just a crude way of making sure the larger comp wheels/tires stay clear of those slender Lusso-like fenders.

Wow. I would never have guessed that. Many thanks. Still an amazing car. I also always liked the 275 GTB/C that had a GTO nose - looked great when I saw it in a book. What's the story on that car - is it still around?

    Many thanks

Does anyone else have any pictures of this 330LMB? It looks like the only 330LM that was not raced. 4619SA.

Here are a few when 4619 went through my grubby hands, back in the day. I still remember it as one of the sweetest driving cars EVER.

Do you have any detailed pics of the underside of this car?

Showing details of the suspension, watts links-if any-dry sump tank-if equipped-live axle? deDion?
Ribbed, 4-sp, all alloy cased box?
    cast iron cased, 4-sp box?
Alloy diff center section-steel, a-la-330GT 2+2 street cars?

Frame mounts for a 163 block vs a 168, and,
what does the front "head piece" of the frame look like?

These cars were pretty spooky, and not much is really known/been verified by true "experts"...
in truth, I think that these cars are in a class all of their own, and share far fewer design similarities with the '62 Competition Berlinettas(what all people seem to call "GTOs"today..)than is traditionally thought of...I think these were the first "Prototype" cars...only they weren't call as such yet....

ANY and All pics of the more "grubby", mechanical undersides would be REALLY, REALLY interesting....

Great pictures of car! Is that 4619? Blue plate California car! I noticed it had a tan interior when it was at the museum! Anyone know who changed the color? I do like the Tan I think better. I was told it was back at the museum a couple months ago and then it disappeared. Anyone know where it's at now?

I will have to search my archives but I recall a photo of Dan Gurney driving a gold colored LMB at Bridgehampton? Car appearedto be more street ready than race ready?

Beautiful competition car. Don't you just love the low tech solution for keeping the rear tyres from scraping the inside of the wheelarches?

look at relationship od the A-pillars in both pictures and the lenght of/same relationship to body-A pillars to the leading edges of the front doors..also ck out the recessed door handles...this suggests either a
    different car, or a
    different body?
ck it out....subtle, but looks like....

Erase that interior shot I posted; it's from another car, probably 0677 GT.

Instead of a 330 LMB, could this gold car really be 250 GTO #4713 GT?

I think the Gold Gurney car is a conversion on a GTO or SA. Not sure. According to racingsportscars.com its chassis 4453SA but again I'm not positive. It looks like the correct wheelbase so its probably an SA as suggested by the chassis #. When you look at Pipers LMB converted GTO you can see the shortened area in front of the rear wheelwell and door. I don't see that here.

330/SA chassis wheelbase lenghts varied from 2420 to 2450, to 2500mm....

Most odditiues are usually spotted-INMHO-at the front A-Pillars and windscreen lines...sometimes it just plain looks like a nose from another car was "zippered" onto another rear section....

Not somuch this car(gold), ironically, the red car pictured earlier should be a 2420mm WB-no? And as such, offers much more peculiar alignments noted above-look for yourselves...it seems kinda clear, no?....

Well 4619SA was the test car so it had a slightly different wheelbase. I remember when Joe Marchetti owned it with his 64 GTO and 250LM. I saw them when I was a kid in the early 1980's at his Galleria at downtown Chicago by accident. Anyone who thinks these cars are ugly has strange taste!!

The gold one is 4453 with a different cold air induction engine cover.
