I may be moving to Harrisburg, where is the closet place that would work on a Ferrari if I needed service?

Algar in Philly. Mount Vernon Specialties (Dave) use to service them, but not anymore. I tried an independent mechanic in Dillsburg, but he was not of the caliber I would recommend.

    Sorry to dissapoint you.

You are about an hour from Gaithersburg and Richard and Fernando at Competizione and Sports Cars. Probably the best Ferrari mechanics on the east coast. They have a huge following and there passion shows in everything they do!!!

    Good luck with the move!!

I'm from the area. It's ashame we don't have sales/tech support, especially when so many ferraris and even the occasional lambo can be seen on 2nd street Friday nights. Give Mt. Vernon Specialties a call {717-657-2608}, Dave should be able to point you in the right direction. My family used to service our Saab at Frank's Foreign Auto in Middletown (10min from Harrisburg) and they always had a full stock of italian machines, to accompany their thick italian-accented mechs. Call them as well {717-944-2757}. Good luck and welcome!

1 1/2 hours to Algar from Harrisburg. They will pick up and deliver, by flat bed, if you want, although that would certainly add to your cost.

On the other hand, if you let us locals know you're coming, we'll be happy to let you buy us some refreshements at the restaurant right across the street whenever you bring your car to town for service, and we'll dump you at the train station for the amtrak ride to Harrisburg when we're done. :D

Guys....you are really turning me off on moving to Harrisburg. I would probably be better off flying my tech in from Pittsburgh and doing all the service in my garage. Are there any local car cruises or anything for car lovers in Harrisburg? Sounds like a non fun town to me.

Not a lot of us in Harrisburg, but there is one guy... I'll ping him and see what he might know.

But, on the upside, you're only a couple hours from Philly, 1.5 hours from a Ferrari Dealer (Algar) and about 1hour and 15 minutes from our Saturday coffee location. And........ only a stones throw from that hotbed of fun and adventure, LANCASTER, PA!!!

Yee Haw. Nothing more fun than passing an Amish buggy on Route 30 at rush hour. (Which only lasts about ten minutes in Lancaster.) Or riding the water plume at Dutch Wonderland. There are some great discount malls up there.

Or, slightly to your west, HERSHEY, PA!!! Now that's good eatin'. Hershey Park is a lot of fun though. Got kids?

Actually, I like that part of the state. Went to college in Lancaster, get back pretty regularly to see the sights and visit my daughter who is also now in college in Lancaster.

    It'll be ok, you'll be fine. :D

But, it ain't New York City.

Actually South Central PA is probably the collector car capital of the US. There are more car related activities in this area than anywhere else. Carlisle Events 20 is miles West of Harrisburg they hold 10 events a year where even their smallest event is equal to the number of people that attend Pebble Beach. Then there is the AACA Fall Meet at Hershey which is the largest collector car event in the world. In York 20 miles south of Harrisburg hosts the annual Street Rod Nationals East. There is also the Annual Porsche Swap Meet in Hershey, plus numerous cruises, hill climbs, and minor meets.

The area is an ideal geographic location, it is a major trucking hub because of the highway system. It is an 1 to 1 1/2 from Balitmore and Philadelphia, 1 1/2 to 2 from DC, 2 1/2 from NY and 2 1/2 to 3 from Pittsburgh. Same with tracks, 1 to 1/2 from Pocono, 2 from Summit Point, 3 to the Glen, and 4 to Lime Rock.

Downtown Harrisburg has a decent nightlife with some nice resturants.

It's a decent area to live. I'm born and raised there so I can say it's a decent place to live and play. It's close enough to most places, but yet far enough away that you feel like you're getting cheated by the larger cities. You're so close to alot of places but far enough away that it's annoying far away.

PS Don't forget the West Shore Hardware Bar.
PSS I saw a dealer on Rt22 heading east that "sells farrari's". The only problem is i've never saw one there, let alone any car that could cost over a few grand. It's on the left side heading east, past Wolf's VW shop. I have a bunch of friends that live there so I can ask them since they are into the sportbike/car thing. PM if interested

That means that it has a great road system and less traffic than the larger metro areas, which is great if you happen to like to drive your Ferrari in something other than bumper to bumper traffic.

i have a buddy here in Roanoke VA that is one of the best mechanics in VA, hes literally a genius. He works on Alpha Romeo transmissions almost daily. Hes also worked on a few ferraris and high end cars like that the one that sticks out for me is the SLR Mclaren he worked on. Anyways hes the best mechanic i know of and if you want his number PM me. Other than that the closest ferrari dealer is in greensboro NC.
