California to Hawaii. The car ran great in CA, after shipping the idle is very rough. More fuel needed since the air is "thicker"? N/A engine in a 30 year old fuel injected car.
The higher up you go, the thinner the air will be, so you would have to compensate with less fuel, to keep the car from running too rich. What kind of car is this? I would think that the ECU in most fuel injected cars would be able to compensate for the changes in altitude. If you do think it is the A/F ration, you can get an Autometer A/F gauge pretty cheap to see if you are running lean or rich. Could something else have happened in the transport? Vaccume leak, dead spark plug, etc...
Thanks for the reply, the car is a little 924 which ran great in CA but barely idles in Hawaii. My first guess was the air/ fuel mixture as I know race teams have to deal with this when they travel. The CIS can be a pain in the rump.
