    I've had my '99 355 F1 for about six months now and just noticed some oil at the top of the rear driver's side shock absorber. I wiped it off the other day & it looks like a little more oil leaked out. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Is this a serious problem/will it be very costly to repair? Just trying to prepare myself for my next repair bill :) Appreciate any words of wisdom! Judd

    I have a 95 355 berlinetta and I noticed the same thing about 8 months ago. I had them rebuilt - and now it drives like a new car. Well worth the hassle. Delta Vee (who are a site sponsor) do them and also if you are in the australasian part of the work pm me.

    I had the same issue. The shocks are on the way out. You can still drive it OK no problems but eventually it will just get worse and worse.

    I had them redone(not replaced) and they are OK now. I did both so they could be reset equally and match.

    It wasn't that expensive compared to other bills I have paid. Around $1500 Aussie dollar for both sides.

    With the bushings wet with oil the shock's been leaking for a while; though it's a small leak, the shock is pumping oil out a little at a time with every movement. Ignored for years, I've received shocks virtually emply of hydraulic oil for rebuild. Typically shocks arrive about 20 - 40 ml lost out of a total of about 270 ml when recieved for rebuild.

    Cost for rebuild is $290.00 each and policy is rebuilding a minimum of one axle set at a time to maintain balanced handling.

    We also offer a core exchange program for the F355 when down time must be kept to a minimum. We suggest scheduling your rebuild with us for the same reason; with proper timing, turn around can be as little as one day.

    As posted earlier, one of my rear shocks is leaking. I visually inspected the towers of the front shock absorbers and they appear dry (no leaks). This winter I plan to have delta vee rebuild my rear shocks and then get an all wheel alignment. How long do these shocks usually go before needing a rebuild/replacing? I have 16K miles on the car & it is a 1999 MY. I am wondering if I should go to the extra expense of getting the front shocks rebuilt at the same time as a preventative measure? Is this advisable or wasting $? Any advice from the group? Thanks, Judd
