Just got my Rosso and noticed an odd posting on the last page. There, Ferrari lists the ongoing recall notices. The top one is for all TR's, including the 512's for passive restraints. Unless I miss my guess, this is the same system used in all the US 348's except for 1989. Does anyone know why the 348's are not listed in addition to the TR's? I personally believe it is a typical snub at the V-8 cars and an effort to contain repair costs.

348 Spiders are covered by the recall. Other 348's are not.

Not an issue for 1989's, and might not be an issue for factory Challenge cars. Not an issue for Euro 348's.

And all that the recall does is to get your mouse motors working again. Bah! The mouse must die!

The TR's were last/finally done about three years ago for that recall.

as for the mouse: anyone that can fix those things has respect.

Very excellent link! Now, I suspect that, for some clandestine reason, only the TR line got caught by NHTSA while the 348 escaped. My guess is that customer complaints by TR owners were more vocal and received the attention of the regulators while the 348 set just coped.

I hate the mouse too, but it was Ferrari's choice to include this idiosyncratic device in their cars versus airbags. They need to make sure it works. Every time I check with a Ferrari dealer, they hem and haw about the cost being covered by FNA or not. My experience is that it's the luck of the draw. So far I have been told No, Yes parts only and Maybe but we have to get back to you (they never do). Maybe I'll eventually move the mouse to the door jamb and pull the plug.

Now the question is do I fix the mice against the front or rear jambs?

Nice link. For some reason I cannot get the pdf files to open. A new window pops up, but no document. Am I the only one?

They open for me with Acrobat Reader on a PC and Preview on a MAC. Big files can seem to take forever (blank screen) to load sometimes.

Thanks. It just so happens that the one document I was trying to download has some sort of error at the source. I am able to open others on the site.

Point of information. When I bought my '03 575, I requested and got the complete maintenance records for the car. I went to the Ferrari site and registered. I then looked up all the recalls and upgrades on the car. In checking the records I saw that all were done. The satisfied me. I did the same with my 360. It is a good idea to do this.

This is not available for older cars, but you are right - new car owners definitely should exploit this feature from the factory.

Not sure what you mean by older cars, but I have registered my 87 and 95 on the owners site. Perhaps you refer to a different site? By the way, a 95 456 is what I bought instead of the TT.

Originally, Ferrari's attitude was, "buy and fly." You were on your own. Getting information on my Lusso in the seventies was a nightmare and a major research project. With the advent of Fiat and government regs, the later cars are no more difficult that Fords or chevies. That is good news. Not only recalls but, recommended updates are easily checked. That's how I know the 575 is current.
