I guess its significant only if your willing to sell, and most will not part with their little loved one, myself included. the little bugger was too hard to come by in nice form and I will struggle to keep the old girl perky.

First off, the tool roll in the trunk? It sure doesn't look either my jack roll or my tool roll.

Second, my 246GTS has a lock bar that goes over the trunk, engine bay, and gas cap releases - the lock bar appears to be missing from the photos.

What other things have you noticed?

Last year I recall someone quoted Sheehan as saying that Dinos could span into the mid 300's by the time this run in appreciation is over.

Sheehan talked the same kind of BS in 1998 or 1999. He said $200-250,000 was just around the corner. Now, 8 years later, not even close with CPI considerations.

Dino prices are reaching all time highs in Europe these days.
Most cars are not sold at the advertised prices but not too far away either.
I would suggest that you start accumulating spares as in this field prices are now rising even faster than car prices and we will soon be seeing unbelievable going rates, especially for engine parts.
Good cranks are already in worldwide shortage and soon conrods and blocks will be too.

Over here prices are rocketting. Good RHD cars are fetching around £90K, some [supposedly] fully restored are up for £140K.

It seems to dino is getting the recognition it thoroughly deserves. Many seem to forget the history this little car had on the Ferrari marque since it launch, even to this day.

The proposed NEW dino sure has stoked up some interest too.

The last Dino to change ownership here in NZ was about 2 months ago. It is a quite nice G.T with chairs and flairs, with a lot of work carried out by Foskers in the UK before it came to NZ. The owner traded it on a 993 Porsche as he wanted something more usable. It was a steal at around $180,000 NZD. The dealer didnt realise how much Dinos had appreciated, and didnt do his homework before marketing it. The new owner is REALLY happy.!!
There are only about 30 Dinos in NZ so the market is hard to evaluate, with so few sales taking place.
It is really great to see these fabulous wee cars getting the recognition they deserve. They are fantastic to look at, affordable to maintain and make a motor noise to die for when wound up in the rev range!! I guess the fact that probably more Dinos than any other Ferrari model are with long term owners who just wont part with them says it all. I have had mine 22 years and know of several others here in NZ who have had theirs at least the same time or even longer.
The previous owner of my car also had a plexiglass fronted Daytona. His comment was that as much as he loved both cars, the Dino looked great wherever he parked it, where the Daytona needed the right surroundings to look great.

It is advertised as POA - always a sign of a vendor lacking confidence in their price aspirations and hoping for a fool with more money than sense. I had the same conversation (£147.5k I was told) but there is history to this car: It's a Foskers rebuilt car. The current dealer sold the car earlier this year (it was screen priced at £104,950 in Feb 07). It was sold and subsequently had a major engine problem that cost £25k to fix (they are quite open about this in the advertisements, so it's not news). In my view there therefore seems to be an element of recovering costs in what seems to be an aspirational price. The car isn't on the dino register and seems to be for sale for the second time this year - draw your own conclusions.

There was a thread about the car here last time round.

What sort of engine problem justifies £25k

None Nerodino, to charge that is a complete rip off. Anybody paying it is a fool too.

It's only a engine with 6 pots nothing else.

Oh i forgot it got Fiat stamped all over it, that why!!!

i beg to differ. generally they use this when they are representing a car whose value isn't set in stone. it allows them much more flexibility in the ask/negotiated sales pricing. also, it makes it easier for them not to have to hear, i like your car, but so-and-so has one cheaper

The graph shows the number of RHD Dinos in the UK advertised by dealers as POA by year first advertised. The correlation between the 1989 crazy market and the break down of the price mechanism is pretty clear. I hadn't actually looked at this before now and I'm surprised that there aren't more in 2007 than there have been.
