There is a concert at the Palms that I would really enjoy taking the gf to in Las Vegas on Friday Nov. 23 so I am considering flying us there on Thurs. and to leave Saturday. Now, the reason for this post would be to see if anyone has any specific knowledge on how to do this in the most equitable way. We would be leaving from New Orleans and would prefer to stay on the strip because the gf has never been to Las Vegas.

    Any thoughts?

I did a similar move last year around this time for a wedding. Flew from INDY to arizona, and then arizona to vegas. Flew southwest airlines. We stayed at the mirage, all in all it was a great 3 days.

Well before I lived here I last stayed at the Monte Carlo in a spa suite for about $220 a night with my then GF and I thought it was great. It all depends on your budget. You can go from $50 a night to however high you want to go. As far as location Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Paris, and the Venetian are the best locations in the midrange prices for accecsability(sic) to the strip as they are almost all right in the center. Although Imperial Palace is pretty much dead center and only like 50-60 a night and is where me and my buddies use to stay on short party all weekend trips form LA. Expedia.com or trevelocity.com are prolly the best for flights.

I think staying on the strip is mandatory if it is her first time, and a trip to old downtown, while a bit on the trashy side for me, is a fun experience if you are in the right mindset for it...and the Golden Nugget is really doing some amazing things that are making it an attractive place to stay once again.

LMAO. I didn't even know about this. I might have to enter as I used to play quite a bit for the first two months I was here. O'Shea's has 3 tables set up that they replaced their pool tables with.

Yup - Las Vegas' only hotel to carry the AAA Four-Diamond Award for 30 consecutive years.

Huge makeover on the whole joint, every room redone, new Landry's-branded restaurants, whole nine yards.

Did you get to see The Tank?

'Equitable' and Las Vegas do NOT go together. Save an extra two grand and have fun. If you own an FCar, bring your registration, it will get you and a guest in the Wynn's Ferrari dealership without a cover charge. Worth 20 minutes of your time.

Good point, last time I was there they didn't have anything too exciting in either the upstairs or the basement, but you never know! Although they did have an F1 engine for sale in the store for something like $75k, lol

Monte Carlo has to be one of the best bang for the buck hotels out there. Been there many times. ALOT of specials that throw in free buffets ($40) , drinks ($20) , and spa/fitness passes ($40). If it was summer the pool area is great as well. Rooms are always clean, and nice enough with strip views from the front. Rates are reasonable and fluctuate if you keep checking on their site they will always update to the cheapest on what you find on the web.

Stay in that 'Hotel' O.J. got busted in - I think it's the cheapest one there.

Vegas has something for everyone. Telling you where to stay & play can only be worthwhile if I know you personally, so here is my take:

    MGM Grand - about $200 a night.
Nice rooms, not too opulent, a full Starbucks, an indoor lion/tiger habitat (important for babysitting the girlfriend), good variety of casino games (big casino), cigars, Rainforest Cafe, high end dining, a food court and the monorail can take you to the other side of town ASAP.

+1 LLV is the best exotic dealer I've visited.
