Green 348 on Ebay - comments?

Just found this on Ebay. I love the color! Looks beautiful...low mileage, one state away, nice low price...

Am I wrong about any of that? What do you guys think? Anyone know this car, or the dealer?

I have a yellow '78 308 now. Couldn't afford to buy this 348 unless I sold the 308. Wonder if I could make that happen fast enough?

 

Black and red are the only Ferrari colors that sell quickly (and sometimes not even then). Other colors are obviously beautiful, too...but markets are strange beasts.

Don't fight the market.

If you want a green Ferrari, then lease it. The leasing company has to take it back after you finish with it, so you have a built in buyer. Might as well get something for the extra cost of leasing!

Anyway, the off-color Ferraris will be for sale for a long time, or until the Seller takes the car to an auction. No need to rush.

But hey, if that's the color that brings out your passion, then go get it!

Green? Are you serious? Green? Really? Well, the color is nice. But, green? I am prejudiced, but Ferraris are RED.

I REALLY have to move to America....................so I can buy this green 348 so I can paint it red!!

I'd be wondering about a belt service and if the alternator has been replaced. If you could find the previous owner in California and get some answers or at least find out who serviced it and what has been done. Allways get a independant PPI done! Money well spent!

Nice lookin car, a friend just bought a similar 328 only with darker interior.

This has been the 3rd time that car has been listed, I called about it last week but was told the main reason it hasn't sold is due to the color. Somehow I don't buy that, there is something else about this 348 that hasn't been addressed yet. As for the color I could live with it, makes it all the more unique.

 

We have a F-chat member with a Verde Scuro on Crema that he was selling for $59,500 not that long ago.

 

I personally like the color. It looks really good. But to negotiate for this car, this would be my math.

1. No mention of a major in the past 3-5 years. Figure on setting aside $5000-6500 for that.

2. It seems a decent (not perfect) 348ts can be had for around $45k. So given that it needs a major (5000-6500) and it is an off-color (-10%, or $4500) I would think that the car should be around $34-35.5k out the door.

For everybody that might cry-out at my math, look to the other posts about taking it to an auction. That IS the 10% discount for off-color right there.

You never know what may change in your life and you may need to sell the car unexpectedly. It would be nice to get into the car somewhere near where you would be getting out (minus depreciation, maintenance, etc.).

I find it odd that the oil temp. and fuel guage have very serious UV fading (hardly orange anymore) from sunlight but the instruments in the binacle look like new. Haven't been in a 348 for a long time. Does sunlight strike that area much more than the instrument binacle? Could it be a new instrument binacle was installed (along with that comes a different odometer ;-)

Does anyone else have fading in those two guages but not the others?

I'm looking for my 1st Ferrari and thought this one was priced to draw attention and move. Personally, that color doesn't move me and since this is an emotional purchase, I plan on waitng for the right opportunity. As far as the price debate goes, there appears to be 2 camps but each camp seems to at least agree that history and condition verified by a reputable source are the only way to gauge a fair price. True "worth" becomes the point of debate. While I agree that the 348 appears to be the bargain Ferrari, there seems to be a wide gap between published market values and the actual "sales" that I've heard about. I'm not sure which should be more trusted but suspect the middle ground is a reasoanble start and then market conditions will adjust prices from there. IMHO, the sub 40k 348 is rare, as is the over 55k 348. Any nice example near the 40k mark is very tempting in my book.

 

I like the color. I think the math is correct in the post above. The car should be about $45-47k with the service done (if it were red). With a 10% green light discount, and a $5k big service discount, the car should be somewhere around $36-38k. If I got it I would put a stripe like Andy Hills has (similar to the CS stripe).

It could easily be the color balance of the digital camera... if concerned view the car in person.

And no, my gauges are so orange they appear to be backlit... just the way I like it when doing 160 MPH

 

No joke. My Spider's were seriously faded. The SS ones are just minorly faded. Stupid design to place them at that angle so they get extra sun cojmpared to the other gauges.

 

is it me or are the front bumper and fender a different shade of green ?? (DARKER)
