OK, so here's the final possibility. If it's not the right thing to do, both cars stay. I'm just curious as to what you well-versed-forum-members have to say.

With 6 cars, things are a bit cluttered around here. As the Turbo and Ferrari are not getting driven as much anymore, it would be nice to consolidate. That being said, it's not as if having both is a burden. This is simply for a change, so it has to make sense not only logistically but financially.

So, here's one option, tell me what you think:

Trading the Turbo and Ferrari for a Stradale.

    The Porsche
    2004
    996TT Cabriolet
    18,500 miles

PORSCHE CERTIFIED 6 YR/100K MILE WARRANTY

Arctic Silver over Metropol Blue interior and top
Car is flawless is every aspect
    90% new rear tires

    Options
Painted Front Bumper Slats (Arctic Silver)
Painted interior Air Vents (Arctic Silver)
Painted Rear Center Console (Arctic Silver)
    Supple Leather
    Aluminum Gauges
    Aluminum Shifter
    Aluminum Emergency brake

    Clear Corners
B&M SSK Bought at and installed by Brandywine Porsche
Painted Bumperettes by Eric@bumperplugs (Arctic Silver)
Perfectly Integrated K40 Front and Rear

    The Ferrari

    2001
    550 Maranello
    5500 miles

    Rosso Corsa/Tan
    Burgundy Piping and stitching
    Scuderia Shields
    Modular wheels
    Red calipers

Basically the quintessential/classic front engine V12.

Do you think it's worth it?
What would the +/- difference in cash be?
What if the "deal" included a new car at MSRP?

    Any additional comments are welcomed.

    Thank you!
    Joe

I think if this deal included a new Ferrari at MSRP...then its worth it. The Stradale is definately a car worth owning. It it makes you happy, then do it.

Sounds like a fair trade and a better place, (as far as cars go) to put your money. I see the '04 TT Cab at approx. 80K+ and the '01 550 at approx. 110K = 190K.

First thing would be to "try" to test drive a CS if you can. It is a completely different animal then the two autos you describe and definitely does not appeal to everyone. Some think it too harsh and primitive of a ride. I for one do not.

I agree with Drew in that if you can get roughly 200k for both cars together, you will be right around the realm of a "well-kept" CS. There seems to be only a few of those currently on the market. Ask me how I know ;) Good luck with your decision..............and heres something to help your thinking.

Joey seeing that they arent driven much and you guys need the space, then its a no brainer.. Also CS prices will hold strong, so dropping that much on an 04 is def. worth it IMO, you know where I stand ;)

Having just really struggled to sell a very nice and well optioned 06 997S you may be disappointed in the current value of the 996TT. Not sure about the value of your F-car but it would have to be up in the mid $100's to get you to what you need for the CS I think.

Beautiful 550 you have, I think the Cab 996TT's are holding decently. With these two cars you should have no problem get a CS on a trade.

Oh if it were only that easy. Plus you will most likely be paying twice as much for the Scuderia..............at least here in the States.

    Thanks everyone!

Given the asking prices of Stradales, what are they actually selling at? A $190k-200k example is going at approximately what number ($185k or $195k)?

A Scuderia is not worth a Porsche Turbo and a 550 Maranello PLUS $200k+++. No way!

That may be the case however, when the Scud's released you can bet they're going to be traded right around those numbers, 350-375K.

    Hi,

My 0.02, I kept a 575 and traded a BB512 and 97tt (+cash) for a 997gt3. In concept, similar to the CS. I thought of the CS as well, but I wanted to keep a Porsche in the garage.

To me, the 550 and the TT are similar driving experiences - both being excellent GT's. The RS (and I think the CS) are both very raw driving experiences and provide a great compliment to a good GT. So pick your favorite GT and sell the other to get a WILD ride.

Good luck. Good choices either way.

The CS's are strong right now and seem to be holding up surprisingly well. Especially considering they are out of warranty.

Did you trade a BB512 and a 997TT or was that a '97 993TT? The BB512 alone maybe is worth as much as the 997GT3 or perhaps even more and a 997TT base model with no options is around $122K. Or did you mean a 997GT3RS? And even a 997GT3RS is not worth the price of those two cars to begin with, most people ask $50k over sticker.
I was offered a 997GT2 slot with early delivery for $50K over msrp, but I couldn't/can't bring myself to sell the Ferrari.

Love the CS!!! But you was also thinking of getting a V8 back when you was in the market for the 550. So what is with a V8 Vantage and a F360 (coupe or spider) ?

    Joe,

My opinion having owned a 355 and 348 before my 550, is that for me the V8’s lack usable power for most situations on the street. I haven’t driven a Stradale but I’ve driven 360’s on a number of occasions and there terrific cars if you’re in the mode of driving the car at 9 or 10 10th’s. The rest of the time it’s a lot of shifting to keep the car in the optimum rpm range, and you live close to me so I think we share the same driving conditions. One idea is to do what me other board members have done and that’s to make your 550 sharper, by using shorter stiffer springs and an x-pipe from FChat member “Ferrarifixer” and spacers from Ricambi. The results were fantastic; the car turns in completely flat and handles bumps and high speed better as well. This may satisfy the need for a sportier car. The 550 is the best overall sports car I’ve driven, and it’s the last great analog 12 cylinder front engine Ferrari. I also owned a 996TT and found the car fast but soulless; even after adding PSS9 coilovers. I would lose the Porsche.

    Beat regards,

    Stan
