yeah true, thats only like 1 event a year, and then at the end of the summer is the italian culture center thing.. which is almost the same cars, but dont worry, when 2010 comes here people from all around the world and the us and all over canada will be comeing here! so there at are locall hotels in Vancouver you may see enzo's veyron's, i wouldn't be suprised at all. cant talk anymore, time to go to sleep -__-
Yah I don't think that will happen, do you have 60,000 to 300,000 to pay an owner back? I do not let my friends drive my car unless they fully understand, if they screw up, they will be buying a replacement car.
Ok guys Marcell - forget bout all this s. like driving etc cars. This should be interesting FOR THEM so that they will come. Phil How can we find a place if we don't even know what coffee the majority prefer - what if majority will say :" Oh Starbucks ? It's POS , I want Tim Hortons" ? This can't be done quickly ( if it can be done in general)
I think its more a social event to do with cars and not what "good" coffee is. Im sure if we make it a starbucks or some small coffee house, no one will mind.
I agree that finding a regular place and regular time where people could just show up if they chose is a good idea. One possibility is Van Duesen Gardens, just off Oak around 37th st. There's a really large parking area there that can easily accomodate a cluster of 10-15 exotic cars. And the parking area is surrounded by shrubs, thus offering some privacy. There's alos a nice restaurant for lunch or to just enjoy a coffee. The less frequent outings organized by Todd are great but there are also many times I'd be happy to cruise over to a coffee spot, jawbone, oogle some cars, and enjoy a coffee.
You'll definitely need to find a place that contains a large parking area. There was a nice French restaurant in the very west end of Marine Drive, "Cote de Mer", which had a fairly large parking area, but thats now a Japanese restaurant......sushi anyone? The only places i can think of is Van Duesen Gardens, which Paul pointed out. Or Ocean 617, which has a fairly open area for parking - and is quite low key. Can't think of any other places at the moment.
phil is going to have a drive around the Vancouver area today or soon he said, so he might find some good places.
Im going to go once my navagation is put in my Pathfinder. Should be next week sometime hopefully. Sorry I didnt have time to go today...and weather wasnt very pleasing either.
Just wanted to add that I think the 'cars and coffee' idea could become an institution. I can't speak for other ferrari owners, but I'm often looking for a reason to take my SC out for a spin. And, belive me, there are so many reasons NOT to do so. "Its raining, I can multi-task with the Honda (dog, kids, shopping), I'm tired of doing a buzz around session on my own, etc." In other words, I think ferrari owners can find themselves isolated, looking for events like the North Van Italian auto show, or Italian day, etc. to meet others. So, the idea of a cars and coffee meeting point is great -- its akin to linking up at "local level", finding like souls it/when you need to, etc. Bottom line for a lot of ferrari owners is to share the experience. That's tough to do with barking dog, crying baby, *****ing spouse. Easy to do at a cars and coffee session however. Let's make it happen!
yes hopefully we can get this started after spring or in the summer, and if the word spreads out threw Vancouver to exotic car owner's this can be a fun event.
I would be up for an event like this, but would it be strictly ferraris/lambos etc? or would a 71' Jag E-type V12 fit in? I'm 18 and its my dad's car, but I end up driving it much more than he does. I would love to get the chance to see some cool cars, meet people and go for a drive though.
Anyone brave enough to take on V12 Jag maintenance bill and "relationship management" with their mechanics are ok in my books, would love to see your dad's car.
Here's a thought: consider the Shady Tree Pub up hwy 99 at Squamish. It has a large parking lot and the drive there is nice or will be when the construction is completed. I don't know if the pub offers coffee to go but you could go inside and have brunch! Don.
do guys really want to drive to squamish every weekend? I don't think especially with all the contruction etc. Lets keep it in Vancouver if you actaully want some exotics showing up often enough. Its a different story when a bunch of exotics get together and drive to squamish but driving all the way there by yourself for some coffee just won't work. Ricky
Lets keep this thead to a minimum now. Ive put the thoughts out there. I will pursue this more once the weather starts getting better in the new year. I wont announce a spot yet because things can change very easily.
I would be happy to come down once you have a place to meet you could allways contact the fca to try and get more f cars there but no burnouts unless you have a new clutch fund set up
