Richard, They are simply amazing with the sun rise and you are making very hard for me to decide on my favorite. I am going to need one to put behind my bar. How do I go about ordering; can we use your website for these pics. I cant wait to see the other ones. How did they come out?
Hey it's Mike here (I was driving the white s2000 yesterday) I just wanted to stop in and say thanks to everyone for a great day. My "co-pilot" and I had a blast running the bluff with everyone. Anyway, I would like to request help from some of you guys if you are up for it. I am doing a study called and "ethnography" for my Anthropology class at SLU. I had to pick a group or organization to study and report on. Obviously, yesterday left me with no choice but to study the world of car racing/rallying. I will be attending events between now and late November to do field research and I will be conducting interviews/ gathering information. I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out with executing such a feat. If you would like to remain anonymous in your involvement I would be more than happy to do so. If you would like to help me out, PLEASE e-mail me soon at [email protected], or call me at (985) 705-6275. I also need a list of events to study for the next month (the project is due on November 27, 2007). The pictures are amazing, and I can't wait to see the rest of them. Can anyone tell me where they will be posted? They would be great for my project! I hope to see everyone soon. Until then, stay safe and have fun!
Ok, so you want a crash course in high performance cars and the roads/tracks to drive/race them on. First go to SCCA.com and start packing your bags this week for Deals Gap. You need to leave this Wend AM and run the Skyway and the Tail of the Dragon Thursday. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ Then get up early like 3:00 AM and drive straight to the BMW plant for the European Auto Fest on this Fri. http://www.euroautofestival.com/schedule.aspx Drive home Monday and try to sleep ;-) Then you need to get ready for the Ferrari French Quarter Classic http://frenchquarterclassic.com/wp/?page_id=4 you need to be at NPR Sat Nov 3rd. You can make some of the Delta SCCA events http://www.delta-scca.org/ And other NPR events http://www.noproblemraceway.com/ Sounds like a lot of fun homework. Mitchell
Thanks for all of the great advice. Unfortunately, as much as I would LOVE to make it to North Carolina this weekend, I will only be able to take advantage of the local events. I love college, but the classes tend to get in the way!!! I will certainly be attending the French Quarter Classic and some of those events at NPR. This will be the most fun I have ever had doing research. If anyone has any more advice or would like to participate, I would really appreciate it. Send me an E-mail at [email protected] or call me up at (985) 705-6275. I hope to see you guys soon. Mike
Hey guys, I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to post to the "red bluff" thread on AutoXForum.com.... Apparently I don't have posting privileges yet. There was a bit of "trash talking" going on in there and I would like the chance to defend myself, as I sincerely hope that I was not the one they were talking about. I stayed within my limits the entire day and I was always holding onto the guy in front of me. I don't believe that I was hindering anyone at any point in time; however, If I did so unknowingly I am very sorry. I was never arrogant or conceded in my endeavors and I never bragged about my driving abilities. I pulled to the side to put myself in the middle of the pack when necessary. I was following the GTO on the way up the road, and I believe I was behind the blue Miata on the way back. I was driving the White S2000, and If you happen to remember seeing me, I would appreciate some feedback on my driving skills and etiquette. Thanks for the help. --- Mike.
I was the knucklehead riding with the BMW driver. We're very sorrry for holding yall up, we meant to go near the end of the group, and we didn't realize that you guys were giving some room for the first group to get some space, so we thought we were at the end until the Corvette and Miata pulled out behind us. You guys (or the Corvette at least) never seemed to be getting very close or getting very antsy, but if he had flashed his lights or something we certainly we would have gotten over. On the way back we moved over pretty soon after most of the rest of the rally came up behind us. Sorry again! We'll definitely make sure we're at the end next time.
I wouldnt worry about it guys. Everyone is just discussing how to improve the next rally. With that they may blow off some steam. If anyone was really pissed they would have told you. None of this is going to run perfectly and we are learning as we go. Its all good! Richard should be posting some of his other pics this PM so stay tuned to see your car. As far as autoX; Darren has to get around to giving you posting privileges and that may take a few days, he has a real job besides talking cars. Im glad all of you made it and I will do my best to make the next rallys even better in every way. If you had a good time talk it up we want more cars next time. Mitchell
You know you could always break it down into pro/novice groups. And then have an actual starter spacing cars out at a 60 sec interval with the fast guys going first and one designated "sweeper" as the last guy up and down to make sure nobody gets left sitting in a ravine for 3 days drinking their own urine! Dave
Thanks again Mitch. I will have one of the lambo images up on the main part of my website relatively soon. I still need to run some checks on the file and make sure it will meet print specs. It was pretty dark when we shot those! Here is a link to most of my other photos from the rally: Red Bluff Rally Photos I have also attached some images of fchat member's cars Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
richard, exellent job with the camera! i am so amazed at that talent. it really was a good time, and i really enjoyed meeting everybody from louisiana. sorry there doesnt seem to be more local mississippi guys, there are some nice people with nice cars here, i just have a hard time motivating some of them. i'll keep trying though, this is something that they are really missing out on!
Richard the depth of this shot is incredible! I know we didnt plan to cross at the perfect time but we did. I have to have one of these; please let me know when its up on your site. Thanks Mitchell
Great job Richard. I will be placing an order for a shot of my S2000 soon. I mentioned something on autoxforum about investigating the interest in another rally soon. As I have mentioned above, I am doing a field research project on rallying/racing for a college class. If we could get another rally together before November 27, it would REALLY help me out in my research. I think that there is enough interest to get another run going. If you guys are interested, please say something because I know I am not the only one who is anxious to get back up to the bluff. Lets start a list so we can keep count of takers. Maybe we can do it right this time around! What do you think Mitchell? Anyway, I think a standing ovation is in order for Richard; Great job man!
And I was the guy in the Miata. I was more frustrated at the Corvette than at you, because while he wasn't crawling on you I was all over his bumper. Every time we got to a spot I could pass and came out of the corner throttle down to get ahead of him, he just opened it up. I don't think he was trying to be a jerk, only that he was oblivious to what was going on. I eventually backed off of him so as to not cause an accident(with some gentle prodding of my fiance's fingernails in my thigh) and resigned myself to take the road slower than I wanted to. For reference though, last time(my first time) I was about 15mph faster in the corners and I was well within my comfort area. I'd never push so hard as to be dangerous on a public road, much less with my future wife in the car. That being said, don't let it get you down. We had some miscommunication that day, and the next rally will be better.
Cenla is holding an event November 18th. Check out http://cenla-scca.org/ for information and direcitons to the Evo center where the events are held. If you need an interview or questionaire filled out, e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll be as helpful as possible. I'm a college student as well, and it's always a blast when you get to integrate something interesting into your studies.
Ok, well we are sorry! Next time we'll be more aware for sure. Oh, by the way, do people go to watch the Autocross events, or are the people running in it usually the only people who show up? Thanks
ATTENTION EVERYONE!!!! I have just posted a new topic to evaluate interest in a 3rd red bluff rally. Mitchell has stated that he is unavailable, so he suggested that I take the reins on this one. PLEASE visit the new topic page and let me know what you think. I have also posted this on autoxforum.com. Here is the link to the new topic: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171281 Hope to hear from everyone soon!!!!
CHARITY EVENT!!!!!!!!! We (Delta) are having two days of racing and a car show. Delta SCCA Autocross and Mirrorkhana Saturday and Sunday, Nov 10 & 11, 2007 Zephyrs Stadium, Metairie, Louisiana http://www.autoxforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3200 The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society. Usually Delta holds a charity event in September onboard NAS to show our appreciation for the support of the Navy and Naval Air Station. Come on out and enjoy the hell out of yourself for a FANTASTIC cause. We encourage people to show up and watch. Just don’t get in the way around the grid or track. You can watch everything and walk around the pits and talk to everyone. You can also sit in the safe area and watch the track. It is free for non racers so you really need to go and have a look. You may even get a ride with one of the racers on the track if you ask around. Mitchell
Sorry I missed this one. With back to back Nextel Cup events, Talladega and Charlotte, I just could not make it. There are some other Ferrari owners in the Jackson area and a couple in Laurel that might make another run. I was thinking about doing a TSD Rally in southern MS in the fall.
Hey Todd, its Robbie the guy in the Red Honda S2000, just wanted to let ya know, that you showed some pretty impressive driving on the way back from the pizza place, I was impressed on how confident you were on entering the corners, you weren't jumping on the brakes and letting off and then reapplying them when you actually reached the corner. I had a great time running behind you, but the front bumper and the windshield of my car didn't like it to much, haha!!! I'm dropping the car off next week to get it repainted, so come time for next time I'll have it lookin like new again!!!! I sure hope your car didn't get any chips or scratches. Oh, and by the way the when ya 2ft off the back bumper of a Ferrari@130MPH the exhaust sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!
robbie, thanks for the encouraging words. from what i hear, you know what you're talking about. sorry about your front end, mine suffered the same fate. i almost threw up when i got home and saw the damage. it sucks to go from such a high, to such a low. glad you liked the exhaust note, but you were wrong about one thing, it was actually at 140mph!! peace.
HAHA!!! THANKS TODD. SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU HAD SOME ROCK CHIPS ALSO. YEAH I KNOW WHAT YA MEAN, WHEN WE STOPPED AT THE GAS STATION I LOOKED AT THE FRONT OF MY CAR AND WAS LIKE WHOA!!! NEXT TIME WE WILL JUST HAVE TO LEAVE SOME SPACE BETWEEN EACH OTHER SO WE DON'T END UP THE SAME WAY OR MAYBE EVEN PUT SOME OF THAT BLUE MASKING TAPE ON THE FRONT BUMPERS TO PROTECTS THE BUMPERS FROM ROCK CHIPS.
It was a blast running up the hill with you guys and I am sorry I missed running back down with the two of you. I have to say that I am glad I didnt get peppered with rocks that must be a real downer after two great runs. I think I road an adrenalin high until some time Monday. Mitchell
YEAH, AROUND 10:30 SUNDAY NIGHT I WAS LIKE "WOW" TODAY WAS INCREDIBLE FOR TWO REASONS: 1) THE RUSH. AND 2) CUZ THE FACT THAT WE ACTUALLY GOT AWAY WITH GOING THAT FAST THROUGH A SMALL TOWN ON A PUBLIC ROAD, HAHA!!
Robbie, It was fun but I stayed at or under the posted speed limit. You might want to rethink how fast you thought you were going. I never speed and even if I did on accident I sure wouldnt post anything about it on this board. Mitchell Send me your email or a PM will ya.
