I hope that this isn't to early to post. I was just curious about the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic. I have some questions : 1) Is this event worth coming to Palm Beach ? 2) Is it worth the price of admission to the events ? 3) Would staying at "The Breakers" be advised ? Thank you for your input. This would be my first main Ferrari event. I will be posting this thread in the General Discussion and the Florida Region. Thank you Tom Geer in Tennessee
#1 - I would say yes. Plan on spending at least the three day weekend for all the events. #2 - Definitely for the main display and the track day it is worth the price. The jet reception, etc... maybe not so worth it. #3 - It is nice, but overpriced. There are a few other choice locations on the island or just across from the island that would be a better value. The above are my opinions, YMMV. BT
Well I'm hoping to put my 355 onto the grass to be judged and if I do get it judged, I'll stay the first night at The Breakers and then I will stay at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach. It is one of my favorite hotels I have ever been to and highly recommend it.
sure is a must do once in a lifetime. At the same weekend you have the Palm Beach Supercar Weekend so there is double action. An excellent event last year. John T did an excellent job. First class all the way. You should definetly plan on doing that as well. Maybe early Sat morning do Cavallino and the second part of the day you do Supercar Weekend. All about what you want to see. Supercar Weekend had some hot cars there. The Ferrari P4/5 that Cavallino did not want to display and from what I heard even threatend the owner. On top they had the super sexy Aston Martin DBR9 from Mr. Fuchs (can't believe he refused to sell me the car...). At Cavallino you find the older Ferrari. This year they had the 166 and one of them was an unrestored example. VERY nice. I would say yes come down and yes do Cavallino but also do Supercar. Great when you have options.
Was thinking of flying down late Wednesday night and staying through to late Sunday evening. Don't know yet about staying at "The Breakers". I thought of staying close to the "action" (Ferrari's). I was going to do the "A" Full Classic Package "C" Separate Event Package "Mar-a-Lago Brunch" and maybe "Classic Sports Sunday" I would like to go to the "Jet Reception" also. Oh yeah, I am familiar with the area. I worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft from June 1987 til April 1990. I lived off of Haverhill & Okeechobee, then Northlake Blvd. Please more input . Thanks again. 1) Yes 2) Yes 3) Yes, if you money to spare. As Martin stated, double the fun with Palm Beach SCW, which this year will occupy all of Flagler in downtown West Palm. Two days, along with a yacht show.
I come in early Thursday for the lecture series. Stay at the Breakers two nights $850.....ouch. Friday I go to Moroso 1/2 day and window shopping with my wife the other 1/2 of the day. Saturday is the big show and then I go home. Its all a lot of money on my budget, especially the hotel, but its an incredible place and the center of the action. I have never tracked or shown my car so I have no Idea what that is like.
I heard that the Ritz Carlton currently having a lot of construction? The 4 Seasons is where I stayed last year and it was wonderful. This year I will try the Breakers.
Mar-a-lago is a nice event too. Once was good enough for me though. Track days are the best!!! Hanging with the Squids-Priceless INMHO
Hey Hope all of you are well. I very much enjoyed Supercar Weekend and am thinking about bringing another car down that for some reason some Ferrari Fans don't seem to like. http://www.***************.com/car/3406/Ford-Mk-IV.html Best
Jim: Can't speak for every knucklehead Tifosi, but I am a Ferrari fan and I LOVE all your cars! Scottie P.S. Cavallino is worth it, I still hit the track days and the concours (but may not be able to make it this year do to my committment to the SCW) I stopped going to all the evening events a few years back - too much going on with all my "Ferrari Friends" in town and we tend to get together in more appropriate surroundings - LIKE RACHELS!

Yes it's worth it to go at least once. What I wish Cavallino would do is add more tents with Ferrari memorabilia/artwork/maybe even rare items or parts. Every year it's the same old 4 or 5 tents with a few books, models and leasing companies. And even though I say every year I'm not going to attend, you get caught up in the frenzy and go. Steep entry fee, I know they want to keep out rif raf, but at least offer a bit more, not the same old same old every year.
I've attended all 16 previous Cavallino Classics, and it's very worthwhile- you'll have a great time. The Breakers is not inexpensive, but awfully nice- have stayed there maybe 50 times and really enjoy it. Besides, it's a LONG drive into town (in season) from the Ritz (which isn't actually in Palm Beach) or Four Seasons (nee Ocean Grand). If you want something a bit less extravagant, there are plenty of places in West Palm that are an easy/quick drive across the middle bridge onto the island of PB.
There will be a Press Conference October 26, 2007 at 10am in West Palm Beach for Supercar Weekend. Major networks will be there along with Local Officials and Represenatives. Anyone who would like to join is welcome. Everything will be anounced then. Best, John PS. Thank you all for your kind comments.
If you (like me) want to economize: 1. Just do Friday at Moroso and Saturday at the Breakers. You won't see everything, but you'll see plenty and your costs will be reasonable. 2. Stay on the mainland, and on Saturday, park on a side street, south of the Breakers, for free. There's not a huge amount of street parking available, but there is enough if you arrive early on Saturday and are prepared to walk a little. 3. Don't spend all the time at the Breakers inside the paying enclosure. Some neat cars show up in the "spectator" parking lot outside, and that doesn't cost anything to look at. This year I was examining a Ford GTX1 when a Bugatti Veyron drove up! And by all means, don't forget to bring a camera!
I'll be there... and in fact, am bringing a very special guest from Europe for the event. Ricambi will probably have a cocktail reception or something one night. That way, folks can meet up-close-and-personal, this verifiable Ferrari celebrity. I'll absolutely attend: Moroso Jet Reception Yacht Hop Concours
Abso-freakin'-lutely bring J6!!! I'd love to see a REAL one up close for once; last saw one from a distance at LeMans this year for the historics running before the 24. ...maybe you can squeeze the T70 in the trailer too - talk about eye candy!!
The track days are the best do not miss them. The track stinks but the vibe is great and every one is super friendly. Pack a lunch for the track days. Forget all the other lunches and BS it's a waste of money. I stay at the Red Roof Inn in West Palm for $69.00 a night and its 1/2 way between the Breakers and the track.
