..it was more a joke regarding the given poor ambient light...no racial slur involved...the fact he´s black is only a problem of lights and shades... while Kimmi will look like a glow bar...Lewis looks like a black light glow bar!...jejejejejeeeee....
...we are trying to find a way to entertain beyond what rain has randomly brought us this year...besides many things NASCAR does ARE RIGHT, FAN AND VIEWER ORIENTED...very show intended...nothing wrong with that, as long is legal, and somehow classy...we are yet to see that on F1... some really neat fireworks, and girls in glowing bodypaint will do... we can have a class act...like the Cirque du Soleil!
They can put reflective graphics on the cars for the night race that would be cool with the brakes glowing, they should allow them to run a little lower ride height for the spark effect too!
...F1 is the best of the best around a circuit...we should have a lights and sound dance with jumping waterfalls or something for the winner... a very classy firewall showing the cars for the podium and some really nice podium blocks...like clear cubes with numbers glowing inside them from inside... maybe a laser show...but keeping it classy. More show on the podium will help...and even celebrating the constructor for such epic victory, besides the national anthem...
It's all about TV time in Europe they need to arrange the broadcasting to be more interesting for the sponsors.
I think some forget that unlike Le Mans sports cars or rally cars these F1 cars don't have headlights so they'll have to light up the track anyway. So what's the difference with a race by daylight? Seeing glowing brake discs won't be the case either or do I miss something? I don't see the point apart from the broadcasting times.
It will be different. Just think about a race in bad weather or dim lighting: You do get to see the brake discs light up etc. Even with the track floodlighted (probably not completely, more like the Monaco tunnel), the stands and the surroundings will be in darkness and look very different. The whole atmosphere will be different. Here a shot I took at the 97 Brazilian GP. Weather was overcast, dim light. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bernie gave Tony the heave-ho and is working with the France family on F1's return to the US. A night race at Charlotte
How many times have you smacked a piece of plywood on the asphalt and gotten sparks? And most F1 cars use fully shrouded brakes. Not saying they will, hell, they may make it mandatory to have a metal strip under the car (I wish they would). Some guys want NASCAR-like spectacle but not a spec-series with limited aero and hybrid and blah blah blah. How do you think NASCAR is so entertaining?! Its all the same car! If F1 wants to bring the spectacle back into the sport, run very very small wings, more under body aero, slick tyres for more mechanical grip, hell moveable aero devices to gain downforce under braking.... And of course get rid of the stupid wood plank and make it metal. F1 needs sparks.
Agreed on all your suggestions. I don't want the NASCAR racing, but I do think F1 as a show could learn a few tricks from NASCAR: - remotely controlled cameras that can swivel - live driver to car communication, no time delay, no encryption - live telemetry feeds off the cars - Push to pass button - randomly activated sprinkler systems on the lamest tracks - a razzamatazz victory celebration, donuts, fence climbing, confettis and winner interviews on the friggin podium not in some sterile phone booth And since I haven't mentioned it for at least a month: Reversed grid At least for next year we will be getting real HD feeds. Finally.
I think there is much concern over night driving.....not to mention the possibility of extra drama Image Unavailable, Please Login
Night racing sounds great. A Vegas night race would be x2 as great. I hope F1 goes in that direction.
Will we even notice that it is night time? Sounds like they are going to have some pretty bright lights to luminate the track. I wonder if we'll be able to tell that it is night time when we watch it on tv?
i actually think instead of trying something new in F1, they should go back to the old--more overtaking needed. in most cases nowdays, the races are settled after 5 laps.
Thanks. Still got a lot to learn: I didn't exactly match the motion of the car, which blurrs the car too much. This was very tricky: It is in the breaking zone for the first turn (right after s/f line). The car massively decelerates, but not every driver does it the same way and at the same place, so it is hard to match the same amount of deceleration with the camera. Also this was an analog SLR with a shutter going horizontally. To match the car perfectly I would have to hold the camera upside down. That's why only the front section is in focus and the rest blurred. Today's superfast digital SLRs don't have that issue anymore.
Any one knows that wood doesn't spark I meant lower the ride height with changes like metal skid plates and get rid of the wheel shrouds that their using. Our FF2000 car runs some wood on the underside but it has metal skid plates too.
