$60K for a 34,000 mile 348. Interior looks dirty, seats (both pasenger and driver) look worn. Leather door panels looked scuffed. Maybe just photo projection? Does not have original wheels. The wheels are what gave the SS a wider rear track!

Would assume unless other wise noted that it will need major service.

Only 15 SS ts's (a total of 28 ts's were made for the US) were made in '94.

Maybe overpriced IMO. You could get a green 348 for under $40K.

Take a look at the seller's feedback. Pretty interesting to at least be aware of what others had to say.

Seller is a local BMW dealer, I know them so not worried about that.

They just drove the car out here and I took it for a drive. Seems to be in pretty good shape, has all tools. Has aftermarket stereo head unit and CD changer int he boot. Has a lot of service records including 30k done at 22k (I need to check but I think it was around '02). Latest service record in May 06 shows oil change, timing belt change, cam cover gaskets, orings, replace clutch disc.

"At 31450: R+R Engine assy and replaced cam belt. Adjusted valves and retorqued heads. Replaced cam seal housing O-rings and realigned cam seal housings. At the same time resized oil return alleys from cam seal housing. This all for max oil draingage from seal housings. Changed oil and filter changed coolant and changed brake fluid. Resealed bellhousing area and replaced clutch disc."

Noticed paint on front and rear bumper have rippled effect -- normal for the fiberglass parts or repaint?

Also on the 5/2006 service record it says this:

"GET ESTIMATE ON MAINT AND REPAIRING OIL LEAKS"
-- RESTIMATE MAIN AND OIL LEAKS 412 CEPO $3,850

No further details about that part. Seller/dealer says there is a drip of oil under the car after it sits for a few days, but just a drip not a puddle.

They also said they just did a lot of brake work on the car to get it ready to sell but I haven't seen that paperwork yet.

It is #13 of 15 SS.

Have a bodyshop guy look at this car to check where it has been painted. Paint looks better than the interior...which always has me concerned as to why....the other why is the wheels (where are the original), and the radio?? where is the original, and look for issues with the wiring....348s have a bad rap already with electricals....a boom box with splicing of wires always concerns me....

If they have the bills, and you have a mechanic verify all this brake work, and make sure the car hasnt gone for a swim, or been twisted you maybe ok....but i would really want to see how many owners the VIN had and where the original factory Equipment is...also, the rear badging isnt on the car...that ANNOYS me as well...take points off for that as well ;)

Good point. I would STAY FAR AWAY from this seller on the basis of his feedback alone......It looks like a migraine-producing seller to me.

Car looks pretty good in the photos. Appears to be little seat bolster wear, unusual in a 348 given the miles. Door panels in these cars do not wear well, my spider is a good example. Panels are in great shape but look aged. Missing rear badge could be similar to the spider line. Mine has no rear badge, many do and some don't, I have no idea why. Engine compartment looks clean. If you want original wheels there are sets available but factor that into price. Perhaps have an independent PPI the car if your interested.

Since it's not mine I won't be shoe polishing it. I'll have to go take a closer look at the interior. I tend to gawk at the exterior when looking for the first time. ;)

It's hard to tell about those seats -- black interiors never seem to photograph well. No rear badge is correct for Serie Speciale.

i know, but the best part is being on the inside....thats why i think its so important to have a near perfect interior....:D:D

THe exterior is for everyone else ;).

The rear badging not on the car, didnt know it was part of the delivery...interesting. Eric 2904 i thought for sure the car was labelled.

I've only seen a photo of one Speciale that had rear badging -- the rest that I've seen (including my own) don't have it. Given the variability of the way these cars are built, probably only Enzo knows for sure what is really "correct".

Agreed with other poster. The SS's had no rear badge. As for the stereo, 348's did not come from the factory with one. From experience, the boom box amp and CD changer is a mess to remove. Mine had the same set up with an old alarm and it was spliced into everything. May 10 feet of wiring was removed.

The paint does not ripple. That is over spray!

As for the wheels, the SS rear wheels had 2.4 cm less offset (Wider track) than the regular 348 wheels. Those maybe hard to find. You could use regular wheels and 25mm spacers to get original look.

As for the interior. The new picks do not look as bad. Needs a good detail and some TLC on the leather. I have an old challenge car that was raced and my leather door panel are in excellent shape. With a little conditioner and cleaning bet they look better.

Thanks all for the input. I'm in no hurry to buy but have always liked the ts Speciale. And since it was local (very rare for around here) thought I'd at least check it out!

Weren't you deciding between a black or white Speciale some time back? (Or did I get the wrong guy!).

From your posts here, it seems you are keen on this car. You need to take it to an experienced mechanic or dealer for a PPI and buy it if there are no major issues. There aren't too many Speciales in this color - most are Red.

Or alternatively you can make Vvassalo an offer he can't refuse. (Vince, Don't bother with satin sheets on your bed anymore, its going to get dirty anyway!) :D ;)

Yup that was me. And the idiot who sold the Dino just before their prices doubled!! Sigh.

I like the car but not stuck on it. Also interested in 355 GTS's. Amazing on ebay right now (I know not the best place to buy, but a fun place to look) -- there are 17 Spiders and 1 Berlinetta -- no 355 GTSs.

355 GTS' are rare and expensive. I think Steve Harris Imports had/has a couple but they are in the $90K range

The door panels on that car are from a spider. Panels from a B or S don't have the notch in the rear of the panel. Also none of the SS cars had rear badges that was part of the SS package ie; emblem delete, Regards, vern

Where is the speciale front spoiler lip? I thought these came with carbon seats, too - or was that just an option? I have seen the car. It's OK (just OK) at first glance but 60K?

Yup I agree re the condition. Not sure if the sport seats were standard or an option. Hey Chris -- I'm the one that brought the 456 downtown a couple years ago. :)

I don't think I'm serious about that car.

    Will keep looking for a 348ts or possibly a 355 gts/spider...

No hurry... just bought this so the bank account isn't so full right now...

also interesting is that the seats seem to have a removable cushion? My TS doesn't have that.
